Kent Youth County Council There are 48 members – four from each of the 12 district and boroughs and anyone aged 11-18 can vote or stand for election.

The Kent Youth County Council gives young people the opportunity to have their say on important issues and to get involved in making a difference to the lives of young residents. Members of the Kent Youth County Council play a vital role in helping Kent County Council politicians and staff understand youth issues and concerns and how changes can be made. Elections are held each year in November -

this year's election results are now available. Anyone wanting to vote can go one of around 100 polling stations across the county and around thousands of young people cast their vote each year about who they would like to represent them. Members of the Youth County Council can also be elected for the UK Youth Parliament to take Kent issues to national debates. Seven young councillors joined 300 young people when they took part in a House of Commons debate on 30 October 2009 making it the first time in 300 years anyone other than MPs have debated in the Commons and sat on the green benches. KYCC member had the honour of leading one of the debates on abolishing university fees at this historical event.
