Got furniture or household items you no longer need? Many Kent charities offer FREE collections, giving your items a second home and supporting a worthwhile cause! 🤩

The following local charities will collect furniture and other household items for free:
• British Heart Foundation
• Pilgrims Hospices
• Sue Ryder
• Abacus Furniture Project
• Heart of Kent Hospice

⚠️ Stay safe:
Only use trusted charities or registered collectors - rogue traders may take your items and fly tip them, leaving you at risk of a £600 fine.

❌ MYTH: “Once it’s gone, it’s not my problem”
✅ FACT: Your waste is your responsibility.

⚠️Even if someone else dumps it, you could still be fined if it’s traced back to you ⚠️

Protect yourself by doing 3 simple checks:
✔ Check they have a Waste Carriers Licence via the Environment Agency website
✔ Ask for a Waste Transfer Note (so you know where it’s going)
✔ Write down their vehicle registration number

It doesn’t take long – and means you could avoid a £600 fine.

Unplug your v**e when it’s fully charged to reduce the risk of fire.

Rechargeable v**es contain batteries which can overheat when left charging for too long - and that means fire risk. Tonight. In your bedroom, your kitchen, or any room in your home. They can also endanger lives for crews working on bin lorries and in recycling centres 😬🔥

💛 Your unwanted items could be another person's treasure 💛

Before you throw it away, try selling or giving it away online via Freegle, local community groups or online marketplaces.

✅ Great for:
• Furniture, bikes & electricals
• Clothes, toys & homeware

Found a cheap waste removal deal online?

It might cost you more than you think… 😬

Unlicensed collectors can fly tip your waste - and if it’s traced back to you, you could face a fine of up to £600.

Before handing over your rubbish, always:
✅ Check they have a Waste Carriers Licence via the Environment Agency website
✅ Ask for a Waste Transfer Note (so you know where it’s going)
✅ Write down their vehicle registration

If it feels dodgy, it probably is.

It will take you 30 seconds to drop a used v**e at a recycling point.

When v**es get crushed in general waste or mixed recycling, the batteries can spark. That spark becomes a fire. Sometimes in the truck. Sometimes at the depot 😧🔥

Follow the link in the comments to find your nearest v**e recycling point. It could be at a supermarket, v**e shop or your local household waste recycling centre ⬇️

⚠️ If your waste is fly tipped and traced back to you, you could receive a fine of up to £600 - even if you didn’t dump it yourself ⚠️

Before you pay anyone to take your waste away, make sure to check that they have a Waste Carriers Licence via the Environment Agency website, ask for a Waste Transfer Note (so you know where it’s going) and jot down their vehicle registration.

These small steps offer reassurance that you’re protected from any dodgy deals 😅

If in doubt, walk away – it’s not worth the risk!

Being smart about your v**e starts with knowing the facts – and understanding how to keep yourself and others safe.

You should:
✅Unplug your v**e once it’s fully charged
♻️ Recycle it safely at a designated recycle point near you:
a supermarket, v**e shop or your local household waste recycling centre
🚫Keep it away from extreme heat or freezing cold temperatures

If you don’t, you could cause your v**e to overheat, leak, or even start a fire. When v**es and pods are binned, their hidden lithium batteries can be crushed in bin lorries and recycling centres, sparking dangerous fires and wasting valuable materials 😬🔥
