Join us RSPB Ynys-hir for something special as we go on a discovery of nature in a new light.
We’ll explore and discover a different perspective on nature, searching for plants, animals and fungi with special UV torches. This is a new and emerging conservation technique; join us as we make discoveries together. Nature is never predictable, but highlights could include biofluorescent fungi and lichens.

What's That Wader? RSPB Ynys-hir

RSPB Ynys-hir has a variety of wading birds that live and visit. Where better to learn the differences between them? So if you are stumped by Shanks or dumbfounded by Dunlins, this is the event for you!

Lead by Site Manager Dave Anning who has a life time of birding enthusiasm and experience, come and explore the wetlands of RSPB Ynys-hir. Learn why they are important for waders and see what is around on the saltmarsh and pools.

Natural Dyeing Workshop RSPB Ynys-hir
Saturday 12th September 11am-3:30pm

Spend the day in the woods learning about plants and their natural dyes. This is a hands on workshop and you will go home with examples of the dyes you have made. We will be outside for the duration and so is not suitable for people with mobility issues. Minimum age is 16 years. Refreshments will be provided but please bring your own packed lunch.

September is nearly here and the seasons are changing...time for RSPB Ynys-hir Wildlife Explorer Club to kick start a new season too.

Your local Wildlife Club for 8-12 year olds, we meet monthly on the 1st Sunday - next meet is Sunday 6th September 10:30-12:30


Tremendous trees - We'll take to the trails to admire the trees on site, and learn how to identify trees with their leaves and bark. We'll also be creating cyanotype paper prints, using natural materials and the sun to create a work of art.
