Today we’ve held our own tea party in celebration of King Charles’s birthday which is tomorrow 13th June. 👑

We’ve had a royal quiz, designed our own royal characters and other fun activities!

We made a Greek themed lunch today at the church 🇬🇷

Souvlaki chicken skewers, served with a honey and mustard dip, salad and flatbreads.

Then, this afternoon we’ve been over at the Healing Leaves Tea Room and Health Food Shop where we restocked shelves with their latest delivery of jams, preserves and herbs. It’s worth a visit for all sorts of treats and especially if you have special dietary needs as they have a lot on their shelves!

This weeks soup for the community kitchen was potato and watercress- we hadn’t made this one before so hoping everyone liked it!

It definitely passed our taste test, and we also really enjoyed making (and eating) cheesy lentil and bean bake.

The interns always work super hard in the kitchen at St Mary’s Church, and love the social side of helping there too as it helps build confidence and improves their communication skills.

We are pleased to be working with the Healing Leaves Tea Room in Lutterworth.

Our interns are getting acquainted with the tea room and have been learning about the healing benefits of herbal teas.

We will be there every Thursday afternoon from 1-4 serving herbal teas and cake - please pop in and see us! 🥰

Healing Leaves is based at the old Cavalier Pub in Lutterworth and is a new venture with a health food shop and tea room. They also stock a lot of free-from foods, supplements and much more!

We’ve been making Banana muffins today which went down a treat at the church.

We’ve also had a tidying day where we’ve sorted out lots for charity and dropped off games, books and puzzles!!! It was good to get organised and make some space 💪

We’ve been having a creative day making these decorations for World Oceans Day which is coming up on 8th June 🐟

If you’d like to have a go they are very simple to make with cutting out shapes from card, painting in vibrant colours and then suspending on some line- and they look great!

Today has been a fully packed day!

🙌 Making the soup and sausage rolls for the community kitchen (plus taste testing duties of course)

🍚Making a lunchtime meal of lentil curry, served with fluffy basmati rice and also handmade flatbreads.

🍽️A quick lunch break and team feedback on the meal…followed by washing up and cleaning.

🌿Then off to Healing Leaves where we are trialing a new venture with our interns helping in their healthy cafe! (More on this to follow shortly ❤️)

We LOVE baking here at Forging Futures and today we made a heart shaped chocolate cake 💕

It’s a good job we took some photos early on as it didn’t last long when the parishioners at St Mary’s Church came into the cafe!

Today felt like a no-bake cake kind of day because it was so warm- so we’ve been busy making crispie cakes and hopefully they won’t melt on the way home! ☀️
