September Outreach Highlights!

What an incredible month it has been for our Healthy Families, Active Futures - EchoVibe HUB Family Health Outreach project!

Throughout September, our team has been out in the community connecting with wonderful families who have children up to three years old. We loved having so many meaningful conversations about the importance of giving our little ones a healthy start in life.

During our outreach sessions, we focused on:

🩺 Childhood Health & Immunisations: Keeping our children protected and thriving.

🫁 Asthma Awareness: Recognizing signs and managing respiratory health early.

📍 Local Support: Sharing exactly where families can access vital resources and help right here in Brent.

Living with a hidden disability or chronic pain often means years of being dismissed, delayed diagnoses, and fighting just to be heard. At EchoVibe HUB, we see you, we believe you, and we are changing the narrative.

Introducing Invisible Voices, our new advocacy project (supported by POhWER) designed to give you the tools, confidence, and platform to fight for your health rights.

BORN FROM LIVED EXPERIENCE:
Led by our Programme Lead who spent more than 13 years navigating the healthcare system with her own hidden disabilities, this project exists so no woman has to fight this battle alone.

✊WE ARE RECRUITING 20 LOCAL ADVOCATES!
We need women and non-binary people in living with invisible chronic conditions (Endometriosis, Adenomyosis, PCOS, POTS, Hypermobility, etc.) to drive this project and showcase their stories.

As an Advocate, you will:
✨Gain Advocacy & Storytelling Skills: Access hybrid workshops to confidently navigate medical settings and learn the skills needed to help create our community documentary.
📽️Feature in a Documentary: Share your own journey on camera, and highlight the experiences of other women, to inform healthcare workers, stakeholders, and the wider public.
📄Co-Create a Toolkit: Design a practical resource guide to assist others at future appointments.

🎬 WHAT AN UNFORGETTABLE AFTERNOON IN BRENT!

We are officially BACK! Yesterday, we hosted our first Community Coffee & Conversations after the summer break, featuring an exclusive screening of 1in32, and what a powerful, thought-provoking gathering it was! 💙

We were thrilled to welcome a packed room of local residents, representatives from local Residents Associations, community organisations, and the Brent Council Community Engagement Team!

💬 The Discussion: A lively Q&A session explored the purpose behind 1in32, the creative journey, future plans under new local leadership, and making the film widely accessible.

👏 Community Voices: Huge thanks to Ian and Abdul for representing 1in32 so brilliantly, reflecting on how grassroots storytelling empowers residents to get the tools and platform they need!

We have some incredible news, EchoVibe HUB has been shortlisted for a Tesco Grant to launch our brand-new pilot project, Teen Café, right here at the Barham Park Community Complex!

But to make this a reality, we need YOUR help! 💙

🥪 What is Teen Café?
It is a 6-week after-school café dedicated to tackling teen food insecurity. It provides a safe, welcoming space for 15 to 17-year-olds to socialise, play games, and get a much-needed second guaranteed meal of the day.

🧠 Why does it matter?
This is the most crucial time in a young person’s life as they study for their GCSEs and A-Level/BTEC qualifications. Too often, this age group only gets one guaranteed meal a day at lunchtime, which simply isn't enough to help them focus. They need fuel to study, and we want to provide it!

💚 Celebrating 15 Years of CVS Brent & Looking to the Future

On the 30th of July, EchoVibe HUB had the honour of attending the 15-year celebration and conclusion of CVS Brent at the Big Green Hub in Wembley. Surrounded by local leaders, including Brent Council Leader Cllr Muhammed Butt and Cllr Angela Joyce De Souza representing Wembley Hill ward, as well as our wonderful VCSE sector partners, it was a day of heartfelt reflection.

The core message of the speeches was powerful: while CVS Brent has championed community development and achieved incredible things since 2011, true growth means evolving. To best serve Brent’s voluntary and community sector today, things need to change. As Cllr Butt emphasized, having open conversations about what is not working is just as important as celebrating what is.

We also celebrated amazing milestones like the We Wear Heritage project. EchoVibe HUB wants to extend a massive, personal thank you to the people who made such a difference to our own journey:

🤝Ibrahim Ansari, for being a constant force of support and communication.

🌟Marika Mason, the absolute heart and soul of We Wear Heritage, and an incredible mentor to us during our Threads of Traditions project.

🚀Erim Metto, for bringing such drive, enthusiasm, and commitment to his role as CEO.

A huge congratulations to all the trustees and representatives who received appreciation awards for their tireless work!

While we are saddened to see CVS Brent conclude in its current format, we are incredibly enthusiastic about what comes next. Sometimes, change is exactly what is needed to bring positive, refreshing ideas to our communities. Thank you, CVS Brent, for your years of guidance and support! 🌟
