🤍 A little jar of kindness
At Mothers Matter, we know that some days you need a little reminder that you matter too. When you’re busy caring for everyone else, kind words for yourself can be the hardest ones to find.
Let’s fill our jar together. Share a positive word beginning with the first letter of your name. It could be Kind, Brave, Resilient or Wonderful—a word you recognise in yourself, or one you need to hear today.
There’s no pressure to feel positive all the time. Every feeling is welcome here, and you deserve kindness on the difficult days too.

I read this post this morning by this remarkably talented women and it hit home for me...
I am scared, I am forgetting the most precious moments, I have forgotten about the sleepless nights and the endless illness, I have forgotten the bad times but I can hold onto the happy memories forever.
This summer break has made me realise how much my babies have grown, how much they don't need me anymore.
But someone once said to me "we gave them their wings to enable them to fly". This is so true. Now I absolutely value every moment I get with my children and I also value the time I get to myself, something I never had before.

------------------------

I'm scared that I'm starting to forget. All the earlier incarnations of you that I thought I never could.

The crawling you. The cruising you. The obsessed with pots and pans, you. The you where every other word is perfectly mispronounced.

Is motherhood just a state of constant nostalgia? Of looking back, whilst moving forward. Or do we get to stay still, for a bit, at some point?

I see a photo from just a few months earlier and am floored by how much you've changed. How much we both have.

How is it possible to have lived through so many different and distinct epochs in just three years.

So I write them all down. In an attempt to stop that old thief called time. And hope that the words on a page are enough to capture and retain the feeling. To do it justice without romanticising.

Because there's plenty I'd like to forget too.

I guess the important things...stay.
