Summer 25 update
I host regular councillor surgeries - I have attached a poster with dates/ times and locations
As part of our capital maintenance programme carriageway resurfacing works are scheduled to take place between the 1st of September and the 5th of October on both Murieston East & Murieston West Roads in Livingston. These works will be carried out in separate operations firstly on Murieston East Road under a road closure and then Murieston West Road under temporary traffic signals. These works will be undertaken by Hillhouse Group on West Lothian Councils behalf.( picture attached)
As you will be aware, the next 4-yearly community council elections will take place on 16th October 2025.
All existing community councillors have been provided with a nomination pack to give them sufficient time to return their forms prior to the deadline for receipt of nominations. I have attached a copy of the pack to this email in case you wish to share it with constituents who may be interested in getting involved with their local community council
Congratulations to our pupils and teachers at Bellsquarry primary school for their fantastic win at the end of the summer term - glee competition
Please note that Lynda Ferguson has been appointed to the Head of Finance and Property Services role on an interim basis following the retirement of Kenneth Ribbons
David Sheerin, who is currently DHT at St Ninian’s High School in Kirkintilloch, has been appointed as Head Teacher of St Margaret’s Academy and will start on 11th August.
Travellers
We had several residents inconvenienced by an illegal traveller community group arriving at Brucefield
I worked closely with police Scotland and the SNT to ensure the disturbance was minimal and local people’s concerns were addressed
I am working on several cases that include the three highlighted below and would appreciate any members of our community who have personal feedback or experience
parking on pavements across our community ( blocking access for prams /wheelchairs and pedestrians)
Lack of appointment availability for NHS patients across many NHS departments
Anti-social drivers ( driving noisy vehicles and driving at high speed)
