This piece of road is used frequently by Howden residents I’m sure. A bit of pain for a lot of gain!

Howden South Road will be closed between Terrace Roundabout and Almondvale East Road for carriageway resurfacing works

We have had a number of comments from Howden residents about unsafe street parking and from some residents about St John's staff parking in residential parking areas, sometimes blocking driveways and in dangerous positions.

West Lothian Council is consulting on proposals to introduce Decriminalised Parking Enforcement (DPE) across the West Lothian area.

Significant maintenance and improvements are to be made to the bridge over the River Almond (New Howden Bridge). This is the bridge near People's Ford Garage. The works will commence on 8th June for 7 days and the road will be closed.
The diversion detail is as below:

Speeding drivers on Howden South Road have been reported to Police Scotland.
The local community sergeant has assured us that regular speed checks are held on the road - especially outside St Margaret's Academy which is a 20mph limit.
It's very easy to get up some speed when heading down the road from the St John's direction. Just be aware of your speed as children regularly cross the road there.

The community council would like to thank West Lothian Council for clearing the trees around the bus top and the road signs on this stretch of road.

You may have seen that the council is consulting about Decriminalised Parking Enforcement on social media.

In Howden we often receive comments from residents about inconsiderate parking in and around our streets. Regular issues include pavement parking which makes passing with wheelchairs, disabilities and with prams impossible.
We also have issues in Howden with St John's Hospital staff parking on the street, sometimes blocking driveways and making things difficult for residents.

Please use this opportunity to comment on the consultation.
