🍻 Firstly, thank you to everyone who came along to Lesmahagow Highland Games today and helped make it another fantastic day for the community. 🎉

However, there is something we need to address.

Every year we see more and more people bringing their own alcohol onto the field rather than supporting the beer tent. 🍺 What many don’t realise is that the beer tent is one of our biggest sources of income on Games Day and the money raised goes straight back into the Games and the local community. ❤️

We only ask one thing of those who choose to have a drink while attending the Games: please support the beer tent. 🙏

When people bring their own drink, it doesn’t just affect beer tent sales. It directly impacts what we can provide for everyone else. The free inflatables, free climbing wall, children’s entertainment and the other free events we run throughout the year all rely on the income generated on Games Day. 🎈🧗‍♂️🎭

The reality is simple. If the beer tent is no longer financially viable, we cannot continue to provide these extras. No beer tent means less income. Less income means fewer free activities. Eventually, it could mean attractions disappearing altogether. 📉

As a volunteer-run organisation, we work hard throughout the year to put on an event that the whole community can enjoy. 🤝 We don’t ask for much in return, but we do ask for your support when it comes to the facilities and services provided on the day.

If you value the Games, the free attractions for children and families, and the events we provide throughout the year, please think twice before bringing your own alcohol. A drink bought at the beer tent is an investment in the future of the Lesmahagow Highland Games. 🌟

🍺 Support the beer tent. 🏴 Support the Games. ❤️ Support your community.

🎶 ARTIST UPDATE – LESMAHAGOW HIGHLAND GAMES 🎶

Due to a change in our entertainment lineup, John McDines will unfortunately no longer be able to attend this year’s Lesmahagow Highland Games.

We’re delighted to announce that Stuart Colquhoun will now be providing live music in the Beer Tent from 2pm–4pm on Saturday 20th June.

Stuart is a fantastic local musician known for his energetic performances and crowd-pleasing setlists, and we’re looking forward to welcoming him to The Glebe for what promises to be a great afternoon of music and entertainment.

Please join us in giving Stuart a warm Lesmahagow welcome! 🍻🎸

’Twas the night before the Games, when all through the town,
Not a creature was stirring, not even the usual clowns.
The tents had been raised with effort and care,
In hopes that the whole village soon would be there.

The court were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of white dresses and kilts danced in their heads.
And parents throughout, after baths and a wrap,
Had just settled their bairns for a long summer’s nap.

When out on the glebe there arose such a clatter,
We sprang from our beds to see what was the matter.
Away to the window we flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.

The sun had just set over the Gow’s gentle flow,
And twilight had settled on the village below.
When, what to our wondering eyes should appear,
But rides, stalls and attractions drawing ever near.

They spoke not a word, but went straight to their work,
With funhouses, inflatables and rides that would jerk.
All set up and ready, each trailer made steady,
A nod said it all — by morning they’d be ready.

Pipe bands, heavies and the famous beer tent,
Soon all would be ready for the grand procession’s event.
The crowning will take place on the centre-stage throne,
As crowds gather together from near and from home.

Games Day is here to bring us together,
To celebrate and be merry, whatever the weather.
Our wee village is truly one of a kind,
And Chieftain Eric leads the way, with no one left behind.

No one can sleep with the anticipation,
The thought of the Highland Games’ annual transformation.
And the Chairman exclaimed as he marched out of sight,

“Happy Games Day to all, and to all a good night!”

A huge thank you to everyone who braved the rain tonight to help put up the gazebos ahead of Lesmahagow Highland Games. 🌧️💪

Year after year, it’s often the same familiar faces who turn up, roll up their sleeves, and get stuck in whatever the weather throws at us. Your commitment, hard work and willingness to help never go unnoticed.

Quite simply, we would be lost without you. The Games wouldn’t be possible without the volunteers who give up their time to make sure everything is ready for the big day.

From all of us, thank you for your support, your effort, and your community spirit. It is truly appreciated. ❤️

CAN YOU HELP? 💪🏕️

The countdown to the Highland Games is on, and we’re looking for a few extra pairs of hands to help us get everything ready!

📍 Where: The Glebe, Lesmahagow
📅 When: Friday at 5.30pm

We need volunteers to help put up the gazebos and get the site set up for the weekend. Many hands make light work, and if we can get a good team together it won’t take long at all.

Whether you can spare half an hour or stay until the job’s done, your help would be hugely appreciated. It’s a great chance to support the Games and be part of what makes our community event so special.

If you can come along, just turn up on the night.

Thank you for supporting our community – we couldn’t do it without you! ❤️

📢 MATCH POSTPONED – MILTON vs WOODPARK 📢

Unfortunately, tonight’s Senior Football Grudge Match between Milton and Woodpark at Glebe Park has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Following a pitch inspection carried out by Eric, the match referee, at 5:30pm, the playing surface was deemed unplayable, with significant standing water across several areas of the field. The decision has been made in the interests of player safety and to protect the pitch.

We appreciate that this will be disappointing for players, supporters, and everyone looking forward to the match, but the conditions leave us with no alternative.

A new date for the fixture will be announced as soon as possible.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
