A quick pic of our meeting last night to wrap up on our 80th Anniversary of PRC in Blackshaw Moor event over the weekend.

With community agreements and plans falling into place for a busy Autumn/Winter period, there is plenty to keep us occupied planning for the future, so stay tuned for updates soon! ;)

We will be sharing some of the amazing stories that came out of the event on Sunday over the coming days also, and some will be sure to bring a tear to your eye! 🥲❤️

On Sunday we were joined by over 70 people at Blackshaw Moor Caravan Club Site to commemorate the 80th anniversay of the Polish arrival into the Resettlement Corps camp.

We want to thank everyone who came and supported by joining the ceremony, the walks of the site, and laying flowers at the memorial.

We also would like to thank all the volunteers who guided groups around the site, provided a beautiful speech on the history of the camp and the families within, and Do Broni for the military element and display.

Lastly, thanks to Tom at Up in the sky Droneography and Photography for photographing such a poignant and moving day (look out for more content coming soon!); also our community partners Vic Theatre, Staffordshire and Arts for their ongoing support.

-Please do join us in laying floral tributes at the memorial at the Caravan Club-Blackshaw Moor site to remember the arrival of Poles in Staffordshire Moorlands.

-Guided walk of the old Polish Resettlement Corps camp available on the day with former residents and experts!

-Opportunity to learn of Polish experiences after the war.

-Living History Interpretation by Do Broni .

The Leek Polish Connection will be celebrating the 80th Anniversary
of Polish Soldiers arriving at Blackshaw Moor Camp.

You are invited to these celebrations and can witness the symbolic arrival of Polish personnel to the camp at Blackshaw Moor.

-Listen to our Chair, Barbara, as she recalls life at the camp.

-Take this opportunity to lay floral tributes to your ancestors, who
would have commenced life here in England.

-Talk to the people who spent most of their early days living on the camp.

-There is a possibility of walking round the camp led by either Steve,
Tony or Zbysh. Visit the sights of Christina’s Meadows, Barbara’s School
and the ‘Elite Corner’.

-Talk to our local genealogist to see if he’s got any information on your
loved one.

We hope to see you there!

Big news! :O 😍 🇵🇱🤝🇬🇧

Join us on the 19th of July (14:00) for the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the Polish Resettlement Corps camp at Blackshaw Moor, Leek.

-We will be leading a guided walk onto the former camp site led by our amazing former residents featuring their experiences!

-A short service of comemmoration and reflection at the memorial to the PRC camp at Blackshaw Moor Caravan Club Site. Flowers are welcome to be laid 💐🌹

-We shall also have Tom from Up in the sky Droneography there on the day to share his expertise on surveying the sites from the air using the latest technology!

-There will also be uniformed presence there courtesy of Do Broni to discuss the lived experiences of Poles throughout the war, and their resettlement in the UK, Empire and Commonwealth nations-not forgetting their arrival at Blackshaw Moor!

Featuring the incredible ZPIT Wiesniacy, one of the UK’s longest-running Polish folklore groups, bringing over 70 years of tradition to life through colourful costumes and energetic performance. ✨
