The Leek branch of NAFAS [National Association of Floral Art Societies] has been in existence since 1963 and at present has a membership of 84. In January members and friends enjoy a belated Christmas celebration in the form of a meal at a local hostelry. In June we celebrate our Birthday with a visit to a garden centre, garden or similar place of interest. We meet in the main hall of St Edwards J
unior High School, Leek at 7:30pm. Membership fees are £33 per annum. Visitors are always welcome at a cost of £7 per meeting; new members are always encouraged! The AGM takes place in September
We meet to enjoy flowers and the art of arranging, but you do not have to be an expert to attend. We have a class for beginners prior to each meeting where tips and ideas can be picked up and practice given. This is a very informal class and is lots of fun, but is not compulsory; if you want to just enjoy watching an expert arranging beautiful foliage and flowers that's fine. The demonstrations, given by local and national demonstrators each month, are both inspiring and informative with regard to design and plant material, and are often very amusing too. The designs are raffled off at the end of the evening and provide the lucky winners with a lot of pleasure. There is also a sales table where flower arranging materials can be bought and refreshments are available at 'half time' for a small fee.
'Flower Arranger' magazine can be ordered through the club. We help to stage church flower festivals when requested, and are happy to consider any other flower arranging projects.
