We thought we'd take some of our library items out for a bit of fresh air into our wonderful town.

We think our tea urn has found its natural place in a rather lovely spot in Leamington. Can you guess where it is?

If you’re in Leamington next Saturday 7 November, why not pop along to this event in the Pump Rooms? It’s a day of hands-on activities, demonstrations and ideas exploring how we can all live more sustainably - a subject close to our hearts at the Library of Things too 💚

Sustain: from the past, for the future

Saturday 7 November, 10am – 3pm, Royal Pump Rooms, Leamington Spa

We’re returning to the Royal Pump Rooms for a fascinating day of free activity at the Leamington Spa Art Gallery and Museum, exploring their current exhibition ‘Sustain: from the past, for the future’.

From engineering to art, history to chemistry, join us for a day of hands-on activity, demonstrations and short talks as students and staff from the University of Warwick explore exciting work on sustainable futures, while the exhibition explores how people in the past lived more sustainably, using less stuff, less energy, and making space for nature.

Together, we can learn and share how we, as individuals and communities, can make a difference.

There will be activity for all ages, with the most to do for those aged 12+. Age recommendations will be listed for all activities when the full programme is released. This event is FREE to attend, but booking is required.

The ‘Sustain: from the past, for the future' project is part of the programme in partnership with the Natural History Museum, London.

We’ve got a range of useful kitchen gadgets available to borrow including a bread maker, food warmer, food mixer, Lego-shaped mould trays, a popcorn maker and more!!

All items can be reserved online and picked up on Saturday afternoon 2-4pm. See you then!

Happy Wishlist Wednesday! 🎉

Every Wednesday we’re highlighting an object which would be a valuable addition to our collection of things, and in turn support our local community.💚

This week, our call out is for a microphone and speaker/amplification set.

Perfect for talks, events, live music or even a karaoke session, a microphone and speaker set is one of those things that cost a lot for potentially only a few uses per year - which is why it could be in demand for use by other people here at the Library of Things. We’re looking for a microphone with amplification in good condition and ready to go on to a new home.

Do you have a microphone and speaker at home which you rarely use? We would be thrilled to give them a new lease of life as part of our collection of borrowable items. ♻️

There's some swapping going on today!

These two borrowers have children who want to switch bedrooms, so there is some decorating to be done... therefore their kind parents are swapping from buying DIY tools they are unlikely to use again, to borrowing a wallpaper st****er from us.

Here in the library, we are reorganising our space completely, so we can fit in a wider range of items and make the pick-up / drop-off easier for our customers.

So if you have visited us recently and found us in a bit of untidiness, then please accept our apologies… but the good news is that we’re still open for business as usual, so whatever you do, don’t let our sorting out stop you from borrowing rather than buying 😍

This week, our call out is for party stuff! 💃

When your party games and lighting aren’t in use they can take up valuable storage space. Unless you’re a real party animal, these items spend most their life waiting for their next outing! This is why we think party things are better off shared.

We’re looking for:
- party games 🎲 (e.g. giant jenga, twister, giant connect-4)
- party lights 💡 (disco lights, outdoor lighting, disco balls)
- a balloon pump🎈

Do you have party things at home in good condition and ready to go on to a new home? We would be thrilled to give them a new lease of life as part of our collection of borrowable items.

What’s the story behind this photo? Well, to quote borrower Victoria, she’s taking the pressure washer away “to find out what colour my patio is”. 😂😂

We took the pressure washer off the library shelves for a while over the summer when water was short. But it’s now available again and we expect it to get booked up well in advance - so if you have a patio or anything else in need of some TLC, reserve it now!

How?

✅ Click on borrow.
✅ Search for pressure washer.
✅ Choose the date when you want to pick it up.

You don’t pay anything until you collect it. And if it’s your first time borrowing, then please bring some proof of address with you.
