We have been busy in the 11+ group!

🔹 Exploring the dangers of substance misuse and how it impacts young people in our community.
🔹 Kickstarting the term with cricket—stay active, stay healthy!
🔹 Cooking up tasty treats—because good food brings us together.
🔹 Pool nights—fun, friendly competition for all.
🔹 Having kick-abouts—keeping it simple and fun!

🌟 VOLUNTEERS & CASUAL YOUTH WORKER WANTED! 🌟

Do you have a few hours to spare and want to make a real difference in your community?

The Marsh Community Centre is looking for enthusiastic and reliable people to join our amazing team!

We are currently looking for:

☕ Coffee & Cake Volunteers
Help us provide a warm welcome to local residents, serve refreshments, and support our community sessions.

🌱 Gardening & Allotment Volunteers
Support our community gardens and allotments, help maintain growing spaces, and encourage residents to get involved.

📱 Social Media Volunteers
Help us share our activities, events, success stories, and opportunities online. Perfect for anyone who enjoys creating content and engaging with the community.

🎲 Youth Group Volunteers
Support our youth sessions, help run activities, build positive relationships with young people, and make a lasting impact.

⭐ Casual Youth Worker
We are also recruiting a Casual Youth Worker to support our growing youth provision. Experience working with young people is desirable, and a passion for helping young people reach their potential is essential.

🚨 COMMUNITY SAFETY ALERT 🚨

We have been made aware of a serious incident involving an adult male allegedly contacting children and young people through social media platforms.

We would like to remind all parents, carers, and young people to be extra vigilant online and to ensure privacy settings are enabled on all social media accounts.

Please speak with your children about:
🔹 Not accepting friend requests from people they do not know.
🔹 Never sharing personal information, photographs, addresses, or school details online.
🔹 Reporting and blocking anyone who makes them feel uncomfortable.
🔹 Telling a trusted adult immediately if they are contacted by someone they do not know.

If you believe your child has been approached online inappropriately, please report the matter to the police and the relevant social media platform.

The safety and wellbeing of our children and young people is everyone’s responsibility. Please share this post to help raise awareness within our community.

However due to staff shortage 8-11's group will have to be cancelled. We are enormously sorry that we have been unable to cover unexpected leave however we aim to be back to normal ASAP.

Volunteer & Casual Youth Workers Needed at The Marsh Community Centre

We are looking for enthusiastic, reliable and approachable Volunteer Youth Workers and Casual Youth Workers to join our team at The Marsh Community Centre.

Hours

📅 Tuesdays & Thursdays
🕒 3:00pm – 8:00pm
Applicants must be able to commit to these hours consistently.

About the Role

You will support our busy youth sessions for children and young people aged 4–16, helping to:

* Build positive relationships with young people
* Support activities, games and trips
* Encourage confidence and wellbeing
* Help provide a safe, welcoming environment
* Work as part of a supportive team

Experience working with young people is helpful but not essential — a positive attitude, reliability and good communication skills are most important.

Requirements

* DBS check required (or willing to obtain one)
* Ability to work within safeguarding policies and procedures
* Team player with a calm and professional approach
* Reliable and committed

This past bank holiday, tragically four young lives have been lost due to water-related incidents. We want to remind all young people to prioritize safety when near water.

🌊 Stay Safe:
- Always swim in designated areas with lifeguards present.
- Never swim alone; always have a buddy with you.
- Be aware of the weather and water conditions.
- Avoid alcohol and drugs when swimming or engaging in water activities.
