Keeping it entirely factual: I was away working in the office when I was made aware of an unfolding situation down on the river. Naturally, I dropped what I was doing and jumped straight into action to see if I could assist. πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸ’¨
I arrived on scene just before the RNLI Morecambe Lifeboat and the Morecambe Coastguard Rescue Team pulled up. To be completely clear, I was not a part of the incident itself, and I am absolutely not in any trouble! I was purely there as a local responder keeping an eye on things once the emergency arose. πŸ›‘οΈβš“οΈ And just to be 100% absolutely clear for the record... I definitely did not jump onto a drifting Kathleen with no life jacket on. Because that would be completely reckless, and absolutely no footage exists of that happening whatsoever. πŸ˜‰πŸ€«
The main focus of this video is highlighting the incredible, seamless teamwork of the rescue crews who work tirelessly to keep our local waters safe. Today I had the privilege of meeting some of the heroes from the RNLI and Morecambe Coastguard Rescue Team What an Amazing bunch of chaps! Kathleen was causing a bit of trouble (as she sometimes does!), but she's absolutely fine now. (It wasn't me, remember not my boat) It's reassuring to know that when people choose to sail, there are dedicated heroes like these on call, ready to risk their own safety to help others. They work incredibly hard every day, often with little recognition, and they don't jump on Facebook every time they save a lifeπŸ’™ If you're able to, please consider supporting their heroic work. Give their pages a follow and show them some love. Their dedication makes a real difference 🀝 As for me, knowing that if I ever really quack up out there, I can call on these lads for help gives me the confidence to do what I do. Without that safety net, things would be very different.

While I was down next to Sainsbury's tackling the overgrowth, someone actually told the police to report that "kids had a chainsaw." At 37 years old, I am absolutely taking that as a massive compliment! πŸ§‘β€πŸŽ€
I didn't capture the PCSO on camera because he wasn't the focus of the video as always, the runaway bushes, the beautiful chainsaw, and the river are the real stars of the show here. But when he walked up, took one look at me, and realized who it was, he just said, "Oh, it's only you, yeah crack on!" πŸš“πŸ‘Œ

Taking a walk around today, you get a bit of everything that makes this place so special. On one side, you’ve got the rich history and unmistakable aroma of the traditional smokehouse, and out on the water, the massive, beautiful sailing ship Hellene dominating the view in all her glory. 🌊πŸͺ΅

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but these 5 photos tell the whole story! This is what I call Slipway 1 though if you ask the Environment Agency, they’d probably officially call it Lancaster Double Slipway, Gate 5. Whatever the name, it was completely buried with overgrowth and soil when we started. 🚜🌾

The hard graft has officially paid off! We have completely finished clearing and transforming the Double Slipway Gate 5 on St George’s quay the ducks and swans are happy πŸ¦†πŸ¦’πŸŒŠπŸ’₯
