This week marks Men’s Mental Health Week 💙

Mental health affects us all and no one should feel they have to struggle alone. Take time to check in with yourself, reach out to someone you trust or simply start a conversation. This is also a reminder to check in on your friends, your loved ones and let them know you’re there for them.

It’s okay not to be okay. It’s okay to talk. 💙

💛 WE NEED YOUR HELP TO SAVE OUR YOUTH CENTRE 💛

Over the past four months, the uncertainty surrounding the future of our building has meant that we have been unable to secure funding for KSYC. As things currently stand, without additional funding, we will be unable to continue operating beyond September.

In a last attempt to save the youth centre and continue supporting local children and families, we have established JMCH Group CIC, a new not-for-profit community organisation.

Unfortunately, we can no longer continue running the youth centre under its current structure, but we don't want KSYC to disappear. KSYC will remain KSYC, simply operating under the wider JMCH umbrella.

JMCH Group CIC will also bring together Reggie's Cause, Juvenis Books, support services, arts, culture, heritage projects, workshops, outreach activities, trips, and many other exciting opportunities for children, young people, and families.

The council has recently agreed to open up the building for community groups and organisations to bid on. This means that we now have to bid to keep the very building we have worked so hard to build a service within.

To give ourselves the best possible chance, we need the community behind us.

We need your support.
We need your feedback
We need your registration

http://register.jmch.co.uk

And, more than ever, we need volunteers.
Even if we are successful in retaining the building, until we are able to secure further funding we simply will not be able to afford current staffing costs. To keep activities running, we will need people willing to give their time, skills, and support to help run sessions and assist with the day-to-day operation of the centre.
If KSYC has ever made a difference to your child, your family, or our community, now is the time to help.

Please complete a registration form for your child, share this post, tell others about what we are trying to achieve, and consider volunteering if you are able.

Together, we have built something incredibly special. With your support, we hope we can continue building it for future generations.

💛 Because every child deserves somewhere to belong.

Good luck to everyone in Year 10 sitting their mock exams today from all of us at KSYC! 🍀🙌🏼

We know how much hard work, revision, and effort you’ve put in to get to this point. Remember, these exams are an opportunity to show what you’ve learned. Stay calm, do your best, and believe in yourselves✨

Take each question one step at a time, trust your preparation and don’t forget to look after yourselves throughout the day.

As the saying goes: “Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out.” 🎉

We’re all rooting for you and wishing you every success. You’ve got this!

LOVE IS LOVE 🌈 we believe every young person deserves to feel safe, valued, respected and celebrated for exactly who they are.

Pride Month is a reminder that kindness, acceptance and inclusion matter every day of the year. We are proud to be a place where young people can be themselves, make friendships, build confidence and know that they belong.

Whether you’re discovering who you are, supporting someone you love or simply standing alongside others, know that you are welcome here.

Let’s continue creating a community where everyone feels seen, heard and valued. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

💙 WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT 💙 For the past 7 years, we’ve worked tirelessly to transform Kirkby Stephen Youth Centre into a safe, welcoming space for young people.

We’ve renovated the building, created opportunities, built confidence, supported dreams and provided a place where children and young people can be themselves, feel valued and prepare for their future.

Now, after everything we’ve achieved together, we have to re bid for the centre 💔

We want to continue the work we’ve dedicated the last 7 years to. We want to keep providing the support, opportunities and safe space that our young people deserve🥹

✨ But we can’t do it without our community ✨

If you believe in what we’ve built, please stand with us. Like, share, comment and help us show just how much this centre means to Kirkby Stephen.

Together, we’ve made a difference. Together, we can protect its future.

💙 We need you.

We are continuing to urge parents to monitor what children are looking at on their phones and online to help protect youngsters from any dangers.

Officers are reminding parents following concerns in west Cumbria in the last week about the content of a WhatsApp group in which children were members.

Officers are continuing to reviewing the content at this time but can reassure the community there was no self-harm content involved.

We are also constantly working with partners to support and educate children.

But the most important person in a child’s life is usually their parent or guardian – so we would ask parents to take the time to check children’s phones and devices to ensure children are safe.

Be intrusive around what your children are using on devices and check by researching the various apps or games to see if they are suitable for a child to have access to.

Concerns about social media groups can be reported direct to the platform owners but police are keen to learn more about any groups that may pose risks to children.

You can call officers on 101.
