πŸ’š SHY CIC Food Bags & Dinner Club πŸ’š

Every Thursday, SHY CIC provides food support and a welcoming community space for young people and families in Hull.

This week, families received fresh fruit, vegetables, dairy products, bread, and other essential food items. Alongside the food support, we shared conversations, encouragement, and a sense of belonging.

At SHY CIC, we believe that everyone deserves to feel supported, valued, and connected to their community. These sessions continue to provide practical help while creating opportunities for people to come together in a safe and welcoming environment.

🎭✨ The Carnival Creative Wellbeing Project Has Officially Begun! ✨🎭

This week, young people at SHY CIC took their first exciting steps into our Carnival Creative Wellbeing Project as we officially started our carnival workshops.

The sessions are providing young people with the opportunity to explore their creativity, develop new skills and work together to create colourful carnival masks, feather headpieces, accessories and costume pieces for our upcoming community celebration.

Already, we are seeing imagination, teamwork, confidence and creativity come to life as young people begin transforming simple materials into unique carnival designs.

At SHY CIC, we believe every young person deserves opportunities to express themselves, feel valued and develop their talents in a safe and supportive environment.

Over the coming weeks, participants will continue building their creations while developing confidence, communication skills, friendships and positive wellbeing through creative activities.

Every Thursday, Safe and Healthy Youth (SHY) CIC opens its doors from 4pm to 6pm to support young people and families through our Food Bags and Dinner Club sessions.

These sessions continue to provide practical support to families while also creating a safe and welcoming environment where people can come together, connect, and feel supported within the community.

From fresh produce and food essentials to shared meals and meaningful conversations, the sessions are helping to reduce isolation and support wellbeing for many young people and families across Hull.

We know that for some families, even small support can make a big difference. That is why we remain committed to creating a space filled with care, dignity, compassion, and community spirit.

We sincerely appreciate everyone who continues to support SHY CIC through encouragement, partnerships, food contributions, and community support.

Looking back at the SHY CIC Food Bags and Dinner Club photos honestly made me emotional. ❀️

Sometimes we do the work and keep moving without realising the lives being touched along the way. Seeing food shared with love, smiles in the room, and moments of support reminded me why this journey matters so much.

One photo that touched me deeply was seeing my little daughter helping out by checking the register. In that moment, I saw more than just a child helping her mum. I saw a young girl learning kindness, compassion, responsibility, and what it means to care for humanity.

This is not just about food bags or dinner.
It is about hope.
It is about people feeling seen, welcomed, and valued.
It is about raising a generation that understands love, community, and service to others. πŸ’›

Happy Weekend

Yesterday was a beautiful reminder of why we do what we do at SHY CIC πŸ’›

The National Lottery Community Fund

Young people came together to take part in sports, connect with others and simply enjoy being themselves. From the first moment to the last, the space was filled with laughter, movement and support.

Some arrived quiet and unsure, but by the end, they were smiling, joining in and encouraging others.

A big thank you to all our young people and parents who came and supported. You made the space feel safe, warm and full of life.

This is what wellbeing looks like.
Connection. Confidence. Belonging.

Sometimes the simplest moments have the biggest impact.

A smile.
A new skill.
A moment of connection.

In our recent session, young people took part in hands-on and creative activities, including gardening and making, in a calm and supportive environment.

These activities may look simple, but they help build confidence, encourage engagement, and create a space where young people feel safe to be themselves.

This is what early support looks like.
This is what safe spaces make possible.

Grateful for the continued support from National Lottery Community Fund in helping us deliver this work
