Last weekend the Squadron took advantage of the nice weather with a team of cadets, led by WO Stokes, completing a day of Duke of Edinburgh expedition training.

Skills practiced included map reading, tent pitching and outdoor cooking.

The cadets will soon take part in their practice and qualifying expeditions, hopefully with some slightly more typical Lake District temperatures.

On Saturday Cadet Cowan took part in a charity fundraising event with his old primary school, Old Hutton C Of E School.

The aim of the event was to raise money for 3 charities with a team running from Threlkeld to Old Hutton. This was a very challenging route of 40 miles that took in many of the Lake District fells. Cadet Cowan, at 13 years old, ran a very impressive 13 miles of that.

"Over the past 18 months, our school community has shown remarkable strength and compassion. Sadly, two of our families have experienced profound loss, and we have come together to support them in every way we can. Seeing the resilience of those families, and the kindness of the people around them, has been incredibly moving. This challenge is inspired by them and by the power of community that schools can create."

The charities supported were :-
• Winston’s Wish, a charity that provides vital support for children and young people who are grieving the loss of someone important in their lives.

• The Poppy Atkinson Football Fund, which will support grassroots football across the country.

• A book fund that will allow us to provide children’s books to a number of organisations.

If anyone reading feels that they can add a donation for Cadet Cowan's efforts then the link is below.

‼️ Meet the New Bronze Radio Instructors & Assessors! 📡🎉

This weekend at Inskip Cadet Centre, a number of cadets and staff from across the Wing successfully completed training that will enable them to deliver and assess Bronze Radio qualifications.

This is a significant development for Cumbria & Lancashire Wing, increasing our capacity to provide local radio training opportunities and making the qualification more accessible to cadets across our geographically large Wing. 🌍📻

The training was delivered by Flt Lt Anderson and WO Paton, Wing Radio Officer, whose expertise and dedication ensured a highly successful weekend. 👏

Congratulations to everyone who completed the course. Your commitment will play a vital role in supporting and developing radio communications training across the Wing. 👏🏅

Very well done to all involved! 🎉
