On Saturday Cadet Cowan took part in a charity fundraising event with his old primary school, Old Hutton C Of E School.
The aim of the event was to raise money for 3 charities with a team running from Threlkeld to Old Hutton. This was a very challenging route of 40 miles that took in many of the Lake District fells. Cadet Cowan, at 13 years old, ran a very impressive 13 miles of that.
"Over the past 18 months, our school community has shown remarkable strength and compassion. Sadly, two of our families have experienced profound loss, and we have come together to support them in every way we can. Seeing the resilience of those families, and the kindness of the people around them, has been incredibly moving. This challenge is inspired by them and by the power of community that schools can create."
The charities supported were :-
• Winston’s Wish, a charity that provides vital support for children and young people who are grieving the loss of someone important in their lives.
• The Poppy Atkinson Football Fund, which will support grassroots football across the country.
• A book fund that will allow us to provide children’s books to a number of organisations.
