As Scouts turns 119 years, it is worth a quick mention to all of our volunteers across the entire 1st Kendal Group - Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Young Leaders, Section Volunteers, Trustees, those other people behind the scenes that keep things working and provide the opportunities.

Most importantly, thanks to our young people for coming down each week and make 1st Kendal everything it is today.

Thank you 😊

It's our birthday, Scouts! 🎉 🥳 ✨

119 years since the very first experimental Scout camp pitched up on Brownsea Island, Dorset.

We’re so proud of everything our volunteers have done since then to give young people a place to belong. Thank you to you all! 🙌

Summer Camp Day 6

(Yes it's late we know, apologies. We were up that late arguing over trophies I fell asleep writing the post!)
We started the day off with some Gwood physio.
The rest of the day consisted of inter patrol rounders & volleyball V2.
We finished the day with a game large Scrabble before bed. Also attached is a picture of the leaders folding Gwood into the tent as they put it away.

Scout Camp - Day 7

Big pack down day, load, drive then unload once back at 1KHQ

Thank you to the Scouts for a good week, the weather certainly helped 😎 Thanks also to our drivers for helping us out and keeping costs down.
..and as we officially stop for the summer, a HUGE THANK YOU to the Leaders who gave up a week of their annual leave to plan, prepare and run camp (and also give an evening this week to put everything back where it goes at HQ). Camp couldn't happen without their incredible generosity of time ❤️

Summer Camp Day 5

We started the day with a few hours of activities on site before a quick lunch and a walk to Hyde Swimming Complex.
After swimming the leaders treated the scouts to a chippy tea before making their way back to site.
A quick game of searchlight before an early bed after a very busy day.

Summer Camp Day 4

We started the day with a breakfast wrap! Possibly the best breakfast so far!
For the morning activities we played inter-patrol football before consuming jacket potatoes for lunch.
In the afternoon we finished the last 'big project' bases before cooking Troop Choice. (Menus attached). Yes one patrols food is missing due to the leaders only owning a Nokia brick mobile phone.
In the evening we went for a game of searchlight on the neighbouring golf course before toasting marshmallows on the campfire.

Summer Camp Day 3

We started the day with our traditional 'Silly Sports' event which has recently adopted 'broomstick racing'.
After lunch the leaders set up four small projects to get the scouts solving puzzles.
The day finished with a BBQ cooked by Skip Curwen followed by a wide game across the site.
