VOLUNTEER JOURNALISTS WANTED!
Have a passion for journalism, local news or storytelling? Johnstone Sound wants to hear from you!
We're looking for enthusiastic Volunteer Journalists and News Contributors to join our growing community radio station and help us give Renfrewshire a voice.
Whether you're studying journalism, media or broadcasting, looking to build your portfolio, or simply have a passion for local news, this could be a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable, hands-on experience.
What could you get involved in?
🎙️ News Bulletins – Research, write, produce and record local news bulletins, with the flexibility to record remotely.
📰 Local News & Stories – Cover the issues, events and stories that matter to people across Johnstone and Renfrewshire.
🎤 Interviews & Reporting – Occasionally interview local residents, community groups, organisations and people making a difference.
📻 Local Voices – Help develop and potentially present a dedicated Local Voices programme, exploring community issues, local stories and the people behind them.
🎓 Perfect for Students & Aspiring Journalists!
This is a great opportunity to:
- Gain practical experience in radio journalism and production.
- Develop interviewing, reporting, presenting and editing skills.
- Build a portfolio of broadcast journalism work.
- Gain experience working with a community radio station.
- Develop your confidence and creativity in broadcasting.
✅ Flexible Volunteering
Much of the work can be completed remotely, with access to our Johnstone studio available when required. Training, guidance and support can also be provided.
No previous radio experience is essential — enthusiasm, curiosity and a genuine interest in local communities are what matter most!
