We are so pleased that Callum Taylor ran the London Marathon, raising an amazing £1,325.

A huge THANK YOU to Callum for taking on this challenge and supporting us in such a meaningful way.

We would also like to say a heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who donated so generously. Your kindness and support are truly appreciated.

These donations will help us:

✔ Raise awareness of sickle cell

✔ Support ‘Our Blood Saves Lives’ campaign, a partnership with the National Health Service Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) to increase awareness of the need for blood donors.

✔ Support families locally

✔ Campaign for better understanding, care and recognition of the condition

The GoFundMe page will remain open until the 31/5/26 for anyone who would still like to donate.

*Mental Health Awareness Week*

Living with sickle cell isn’t just physical - it’s emotional too.

Pain, crises, suffering, the unpredictable nature of sickle cell, hospital stays, frequent appointments, lack of good treatment and understanding from clinicians, uncertainties, lack of awareness, the financial impact of living with a chronic condition, employment issues and more, can take a serious toll on mental health.

Many people with sickle cell face anxiety, depression, loneliness and isolation, often without enough understanding or support, often suffering in silence.

Psychological support is an important part of wholistic care.

This week, let’s remember:
💬 Check in on people beyond what you can see
🤝 Listen without judgment
📚 Educate yourself about sickle cell
❤️ Show compassion—it goes a long way

Mental Health matters. Every story matters!

We need people from all communities to give blood to make sure there’s the right blood available for everyone to meet the needs of all patients.

Most people can give blood if they are fit and healthy. 🩸❤️

We are highlighting the need for African and Caribbean donors, because of a rise in demand for some rare blood types that are more common in people of Black heritage, and the increase of sickle cell in the UK.

Anyone can use our QR code to register as a blood donor, as our unique affiliate link will take you direct to the NHSBT blood registration site.
