We had a lovely evening with Kate and Julie of Kate's Kuality Krafts. Kate gave us a really interesting wood turning demonstration, her passion for the craft, and what it's like to be a young woman in an industry primarily made up of men. They also brought hand crafted items for us to do a bit of shopping.

Next week, Olicanian Cricket Club is hosting a charity event in support of Bowel Research UK, and everyone is welcome!

We’ve had a great couple of meetings over the summer with Sarah Wilkinson from Fasting for women in July and self defence skills from Marianna from in August. Keep your eyes peeled for what we’re planning for September! If you fancy coming along to see what we’re about it’s just £6 for you to attend as a guest.

One of the benefits of being a WI member is being able to join in our offshoot groups such as our book club 📚 and theatre club 🎭 . Next Weds (26th August) we have a small group going to see High Society at Leeds Grand Theatre at 19.30. One of our members bought a ticket but is no longer able to go and so we wanted to see if anyone else would be interested in coming along? Doesn’t matter if you are a member, a previous visitor or a non-member. Please message [email protected] if you are interested in buying the ticket. 🎟️ The show is getting great reviews. 👏

We’d love to hear about the friends you have made through your membership of the WI. Please post a memory - old or new for us to read.❤️

So many friendships have been forged through membership of the WI. Both through local groups like your own WI and through the wider WI movement. Don’t forget if you can’t get out to attend a WI in a church hall, local pub, village hall there is always the Sassy Lassies Virtual WI. West Yorkshire has 75 WIs that connect through our countywide Federation. Speaking personally I’ve made so many friends through the Federation who I wouldn’t have ever met without the WI.
