๐Ÿ“š๐ŸšŒ **Retro Reset Visits Summerdown School & The Southfield Centre!** ๐ŸšŒ๐Ÿ“š

What a fantastic day we had visiting **Summerdown School and The Southfield Centre in Eastbourne** with our mobile computing museum!

We were delighted to share the history of computing with students across the school, giving them the opportunity to get hands-on with a wide range of vintage computers, consoles and technology from years gone by. From classic games to early home computers, it was wonderful to see so much enthusiasm, curiosity and excitement as students explored the old kit and discovered how technology has evolved over the decades.

Summerdown School is an all-through school supporting pupils from Early Years through to Secondary age with autism and learning disabilities, while The Southfield Centre provides specialist education for pupils with profound and multiple learning disabilities and complex medical needs. It was a privilege to bring our workshops to such an inclusive and inspiring learning community.

A huge thank you to all the staff for making us feel so welcome and to the students for their brilliant engagement throughout the day. Seeing smiles, hearing questions, and watching everyone interact with technology from different eras is exactly why we do what we do.

We look forward to visiting again in the future!

Did you know Retro Reset has it fans around the world!

Would you believe Bruno, from the Lot in France has made a Retro Reset Money box for Luke and also donated a PS4 and a Mintel from 1978, how cool is that! ๐Ÿชญ๐Ÿ“€๐ŸŽโค๏ธ๐Ÿ‘

Thank you Bruno!

Huge recognition for Lisa and Tora from Wealden Works๏ฟผ yesterday, who were invited onto GB News to discuss Britainโ€™s growing youth unemployment crisis and the barriers many young people are facing when trying to access work and opportunities.โฃ
โฃ
The discussion highlighted the increasing number of young people who are currently NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training), and the importance of programmes that provide real support, guidance, confidence and pathways into employment.โฃ
โฃ
Weโ€™re incredibly proud of the work Lisa, Tora and the wider team continue to do across Wealden, supporting young people through free employability programmes, workshops, mentoring and business partnerships that genuinely change lives.โฃ

โšก๏ธThe Retro Reset bus runs all day for about ยฃ1 of electricity!โšก๏ธ ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ˜€

At Retro Reset, weโ€™re always thinking about sustainability and how we can make our mobile computing museum even more energy efficient for schools and community events.

Over the last few days weโ€™ve been carefully measuring the electricity usage of all the retro systems, screens and lighting onboard the bus, and the results have been really encouraging. Itโ€™s fascinating seeing just how efficiently many of these classic systems still run today!

Weโ€™re now exploring portable power solutions and possibly even solar power in the future to help make the Retro Reset bus more self-sufficient and environmentally friendly while out on the road.

The idea of running a mobile retro computing museum using clean portable energy is something weโ€™re really excited about, and weโ€™ll share more updates as the project develops.

Thank you to everyone supporting Retro Reset and helping preserve computing history for the next generation.
