Current Programmes include:

Detached Youth Work
Street-based community engagements meeting young people in the place of their choosing. This includes parks, car parks, cafes, high streets and involves lots of different engagements from general conversations to arts programmes and sports activities such as use of our pop-up football cage! In-School Mentoring
We support a large number of young people within local schools through providing a trained volunteer mentor. Mentoring sessions give young people space to talk about whatever they want to talk about on a 1-2-1 basis with a trusted adult. Targeted Group Work
Planned programmes with young people including short courses (e.g. increasing confidence, mental health, positive relationships). These can run in-school or in the community.

1-2-1 Support
Our Youth Development Workers also provide 1-2-1 support to a number of young people as needed. This could be supporting them through changes of school, challenges at home or re-connection with education as well as a range of other challenges.

Supporting Young People at Nevendon Skatepark

Every Tuesday from 4pm-6pm, our Detached Youth Work Team is out at Nevendon Skatepark, connecting with young people and providing a friendly, welcoming presence in the community.

Using our trusty little van, the team offers a hot drink, a chat, and support for young people who gather at the park. Sometimes it's the simple conversations that make the biggest difference.

This provision is delivered in partnership with Wickford Town Council, helping us engage with and support local young people where they are.

💙 Building relationships, offering support, and creating positive opportunities for young people.

Bar 'n' Bus Mobile Unit at Wickford Marketplace

Every Thursday from 4:00pm to 6:00pm, our Mobile Unit is based at Wickford Marketplace, providing a safe, welcoming space where young people can gather, connect and have fun.

Young people drop in to play games, enjoy a hot chocolate, spend time with friends, and chat with our friendly youth workers. While the atmosphere is relaxed and informal, these moments often create opportunities for meaningful conversations, trusted relationships and valuable support.

Know a young person who would benefit from a safe space to connect, have fun and talk with trusted adults? Share this post and help us reach more young people in our community.

Together, we are creating safe spaces, positive opportunities and trusted relationships for young people. Wickford Town Council

Autumn Crafts at King George's Detached Session

At our King George's detached youth work session, young people got creative with some autumn-themed crafts, using seasonal colours to make their own unique creations.

This activity provided opportunities for young people to relax, express themselves, build confidence, and connect with others in a safe and supportive environment.

Detached youth work is all about meeting young people where they are, creating positive opportunities, and building trusted relationships within the community. It was great to see so much creativity, teamwork, and engagement on display.

A big well done to everyone who got involved!

Life Skills

How often do we just expect young people to be adult-ready? How often should they 'just know' how to do something? Simple life skills can be taught through youth work, and it looks like the team have some work to do over the next few weeks about basic kitchen and cooking skills, dexterity, healthy eating and cleaning up after making toast. We are always looking for volunteers who can help support sessions and help young people develop core life skills. Could this be you?
