💙 Another Fantastic Week at 23rd South East Essex Boys’ Brigade! 💙

Last Monday was full of fun, creativity, and teamwork across all our sections:

🥷 Anchors & Juniors learned the art of origami and made their very own ninja stars before tackling an exciting ninja obstacle and laser assault course — testing their agility, balance, and stealth!

🌭 Company Section became food critics for the evening with a sausage tasting session featuring delicious sausages from Byford’s Food Hall. The boys tested eight flavours and voted for their top three:
1️⃣ Celebration Pork Chipolatas
2️⃣ Cumberland
3️⃣ Joint third — Hog Roast & Piri Piri Chicken

Even the staff got involved, putting their taste buds to the test! Their top picks were:
1️⃣ Celebration Pork Sausage
2️⃣ Piri Piri Chicken
3️⃣ Hog Roast

A huge thank you to Stephen Spaull from Byford’s, who works on their sausage counter, and to George, one of our own Company boys who has recently joined the Byford’s team — he’s already proving to be a real asset! 👏

🏅 Tonight, we celebrated our joint Awards Ceremony with the Girls’ Brigade, recognising all the boys and girls for their hard work, commitment, and achievements over the past year. It was wonderful to see so many proud faces collecting their badges and awards!
We’re so proud of everything our members have accomplished — and we can’t wait for what’s to come next!

💥 Nerf Wars Take Over BB! 💥

Last Monday, things got competitive at the 23rd South East Essex Boys’ Brigade as the hall transformed into a Nerf battlefield! 🎯

Our Anchors and Juniors had a fantastic evening led by special guest Ben Clarke, who brought plenty of energy (and tactical challenges!) to the games. The boys came armed with their own Nerf blasters or borrowed one from the BB Armoury, ready to take part in fast-paced team missions and strategy games. 💪

There was laughter, teamwork, and a few dramatic dodges along the way — but most importantly, everyone had an amazing time!

A huge thank you to Ben for joining us and making the evening so much fun. 🙌

💥 And the fun doesn’t stop there — tomorrow our Anchor and Junior boys will be honing their ninja skills and practicing origami! 🥷📄

💙 Another Busy Monday at 23rd South East Essex BB!

Tonight, each section tackled something different and exciting:

♻️ Anchors & Juniors learned about recycling — and turned it into a fun project by making their very own tic tac toe game using reused milk bottle tops as counters. They did a fantastic job! 👏

📖 Company Boys took a step back in time to learn about the history of the Boys’ Brigade and the badgework that makes up such a big part of BB life. It was a chance to reflect on the amazing organisation they are part of and what makes it special.

🗳️⚖️ Seniors got stuck into big debates — from whether 16-year-olds should be able to vote to the tough question of whether abuse is ever okay in politics. These thought-provoking sessions gave the boys a chance to explore issues that shape the world around them.

👉 At BB, no two weeks are ever the same — every session brings new skills, fresh ideas, and plenty of opportunities to grow.

This morning’s service was centred on International Peace Day, reminding us of the importance of hope, unity, and the power of peace in our world.

We heard the story of Sadako Sasaki, a young girl who developed leukaemia after the atomic bombing of Hiroshima — known as the “bomb disease.” Her story of folding origami cranes, inspired by the Japanese legend that anyone who folds 1,000 cranes will be granted a wish, has become a symbol of peace and perseverance worldwide.

Her legacy continues to inspire people everywhere to work towards a more peaceful future — a message we shared together as a company this morning.

As Boys’ Brigade, we’re proud to stand for peace, hope, and friendship — values that guide us in all that we do.

⚓✝️ More Than Just a Logo… It’s What We Stand For!

The Boys’ Brigade emblem is more than just a badge — it’s a powerful symbol of what we’re all about:

⚓ The Anchor – Represents hope, strength, and stability, inspired by our motto:

“Sure and Steadfast” – Hebrews 6:19
It reminds us to hold firm, stay grounded, and keep moving forward.

✝️ The Cross – Shows that faith is at the heart of everything we do.
It guides our values, actions, and the way we support one another as we grow.

Every boy who wears this badge is part of something bigger — a journey of fun, friendship, faith, and real-life skills that last a lifetime.

💬 It’s not just a logo… it’s a way of life.
