We were invited to attend the private view of the Lost Music Venues exhibition at the V&A last night, created in collab with the Music Venue Trust.
📸
The exhibition was interactive, nostalgic and celebratory, bringing together stories, sounds and memories from grassroots music spaces across the UK.
It highlights & captures many moments in time, including our beloved venue toilets, box office, green rooms, riders, set lists… it was like being in our very own Boileroom!
⚡️
Mariella Frostrup delivered a rousing opening speech & spoke about the cultural importance of grassroots venues and what is lost when these spaces disappear. It felt particularly relevant at a time when we are under such pressure. We met some amazing people who have spent years propping up, nurturing and progressing the beauty that is the culture we are all so proud of.
⚡️
The Boileroom isn’t part of the exhibition itself, but some of our posters and artefacts are now held within the V&A Storehouse archive alongside material from independent venues across the country.
⚡️
Go and see it if you can!
👌
Thanks to the V&A and Music Venue Trust for the invitation, recognising and celebrating the spaces & crews that show up day after day and fight for culture to survive.
This one’s for you x

++ NEW SHOW ++
⚡ The Orb⚡
Saturday 17th October 2026

We’re excited to welcome back to the Boileroom this October!

The Orb’s Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld wasn’t just an album, it was a dimensional rift, a gentle cosmic shockwave that rewired what electronic music could be.
In 1991, when rave culture was accelerating toward harder, faster sounds, The Orb – Alex Paterson with key collaborators like Jimmy Cauty (KLF), Kris Weston, Youth, and the unmistakable presence of vocalists and sample-spirits such as Andy Falconer and the mighty Steve Hillage, chose a different path. Instead of going up in energy, they went out, drifting deep into a panoramic, slow-motion universe of ambient textures, dub weight, and starlit imagination.

It’s coming soon to you!

We made Time Out’s list of the 42 greatest independent venues in the UK!
⚡️
The article was written by keyboardist & multi-instrumentalist James Balmont who has played our stage with bandmates Swim Deep many times. So we thought we’d sling this poster up from when they played IVW in 2019.
⚡️
20 years this year. Thousands of bands. Thousands of people through the doors. Still going.
Thanks James & thanks Time Out! 🙏🏻
