Busy Day in the Social Garden!
Our fantastic volunteers have been hard at work this week, helping to shape and improve the garden for everyone to enjoy.
Posts have been installed ready for future projects and improvements.
A new polytunnel is taking shape, helping us extend the growing season and produce more fruit, vegetables and plants for the community.

Volunteers have also been tending the garden, clearing areas, preparing growing spaces and helping keep the site looking welcoming and cared for.
Every post set, w**d cleared and panel assembled is another step towards creating a thriving community space where people can connect, learn new skills and enjoy being outdoors.
A huge thank you to everyone who gave their time, energy and enthusiasm today. Community projects are built one helping hand at a time.

This work has been made possible thanks to support from The National Lottery Community Fund, helping us continue to develop welcoming community spaces, reduce isolation and create opportunities for people to connect through practical activities.

β˜•πŸŽ¨ Another lovely Keeping the Warmth Hub at The Canddo Project today.

We kept things simple with easy sandwiches, plenty of tea, coffee and good conversation. Sometimes the simplest things bring people together best.

Our art therapy session took the form of creating and decorating paper lanterns for Race for Life, with everyone adding their own creativity and personal touch. It was wonderful to see people relaxing, chatting and expressing themselves through art.

Outside, the hens are looking happy and healthy, and the garden is thriving in the recent good weather. πŸŒ±πŸ”

In Men's Craft, the team put the finishing touches to the tool caddy and storage box, completing another practical project built through teamwork, patience and shared skills. πŸ› οΈ

We were also pleased to welcome a few visitors who stopped by to see what we're all about. New faces are always welcome, whether it's for a chat, a brew, a project or simply some company.

Looking ahead, next Wednesday sees the launch of our Clay Tile Pottery Course, where participants will begin creating their own decorative pottery-style tiles. We're looking forward to getting our hands dirty and seeing what everyone creates!

As always, thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the hub such a warm, friendly and welcoming space.

Another Busy Day at The Canddo Project!

The first of what we hope will be many bird boxes has been trialled for our upcoming after-school activities, kindly funded by Bron Afon. It's been fantastic seeing skills, creativity and nature come together in one project.
Alongside the bird box build, our Social Garden has been receiving plenty of attention, with volunteers helping to keep it looking great, and there was even time for a spot of painting and wood preservation too!

Tomorrow is Dig Day! If you'd like to get outdoors, meet new people and lend a hand in the garden, we'd love to see you.

Wednesday is our Keeping the Warmth Hub Pop along for a warm welcome, a hot drink, good company and community activities.
Every helping hand, conversation and cuppa helps strengthen connections through community.

The Canddo Project Communi-Build team has been busy transforming an old overgrown planting area into two smart, durable raised beds ready for growing flowers, herbs, fruit and vegetables for the community.

From a stack of boards to finished raised beds in the ground, this is what community action looks like.

Built by volunteers
Created for the community
Connection through community

A huge thank you to everyone who has helped make projects like this possible. Every board fixed, every screw driven and every hour volunteered helps create spaces where people can learn, grow and connect.
Sometimes the difference between "before" and "after" is simply people coming together and saying:
"Let's give it a go." 🦊

Sneak Peek...

A little glimpse of a new addition taking shape at The Canddo Projec Communi-build.

Built almost entirely from reclaimed materials, our Wind Phone is nearing completion. Inspired by the Japanese concept of the Kaze no Denwa (Wind Telephone), it offers a quiet place to sit, reflect, remember, or simply have a conversation with someone who is no longer with us.

The phone isn't connected to anything.....except memories, thoughts, hopes, and the things we sometimes need to say out loud.
We're adding the finishing touches and look forward to sharing the completed space very soon.

Thank you to everyone who supports our Communi-Build projects and helps turn salvaged materials into meaningful community spaces.

Sausage Casserole in June? Why not! 🌧️
The weather may have been damp, but a hearty sausage casserole was just the thing today. Every bowl was enjoyed, proving that comfort food doesn't need to wait for winter!
It's been wonderful to see our group continuing to grow, with a lovely mix of familiar faces and newcomers joining us each week. The conversations, laughter and friendships being built around the table are exactly what community is all about.
🎡 We even have talk of one of our attendees running a music quiz next week, which we're all looking forward to. It's fantastic to see people gaining confidence and bringing their own ideas into the sessions.
πŸ› οΈ Over at Men's Craft, the tool box project is nearly complete. The finished boxes are looking great and everyone involved should be proud of what they've created.
A huge thank you to everyone who came along today and helped make it another welcoming and enjoyable session.
