This winter, we are directing older people to Friends of the Elderly’s grants programme, which helps older individuals facing financial difficulties. Their aim is to support older people struggling to make ends meet and to help them live with dignity and comfort. We can help you apply at the community cafe on Wednesdays.
To be awarded a grant, the person should be:
Resident in England or Wales
Over state pension age
On a low income
Savings under £4000
Grants are usually around £600 or less. Occasionally, we can make a small number of grants of up to £1000. Grants can cover essential expenses such as buying a new fridge, paying unexpected bills, food, clothing, gas and electricity costs, and more.

We provide professional, dignified & responsible care for older people. Find out more about our care homes, day care and respite care near you.
