Yesterday, we proudly joined the counter-protest, organised by Stand Up to Racism Glasgow, at Glasgow Green. Together with around 4,000 anti-racist and anti-fascist, we stood united against racism, fascism, and violence against women and girls. It was inspiring to stand shoulder to shoulder with comrades from many different organisations, showing that our communities are stronger when we stand together.

We were especially proud to see so many strong and inspirational women speaking out against sexual violence and racism. Member of SARG also had the opportunity to address the crowd, highlighting the importance of challenging both racism and violence against women and girls, and calling for communities built on equality, dignity, and respect.

What we witnessed from sections of the opposing protest was deeply concerning. While some claimed to be standing up for women and girls, we saw acts of aggression, including people throwing, bottles, pieces of woods, and what have been reported as eggs containing a corrosive substance. Such behaviour promotes fear, intimidation, and hatred and causing harm to others has no place in a peaceful demonstration.

Patriotism should be about respect, unity, and caring for our communities. Violence, intimidation, and racism should never be disguised as patriotism. There is no place for racism, hatred, or division in our communities. We will always stand up for equality, justice, compassion, and peace. ✊🏽

Today, we took part at the Reclaim Our Park - White Ribbon event at Springburn Park Moon Gate entrance, and we were encouraged by the strong turnout and support from the community.

It was inspiring to see so many women and girls come together to share their reflections, with a range of powerful women speakers highlighted the importance of creating safer communities for everyone. Together, we tied white ribbons around the Moon Gate entrance as a visible symbol of our collective commitment to ending violence against women, girls and all genders.

Our message remains clear, sexual violence will never be tolerated in our community or any other community. Everyone deserves to feel safe and respected, regardless of their race, background, religion, identity, or gender.

A sincere thank you to all the partner organisations, community leaders, local politicians, and everyone else who supported and took part in today's event. Your solidarity and commitment help strengthen our shared goal of building safer, more inclusive communities for all. πŸŽ—βœŠπŸ½
