Last night’s Youth Connect session was another brilliant evening at the Geoff Shaw Community Centre! 🙌💛

It was fantastic to see so many young people enjoying the activities, spending time with friends, and making the most of a safe, welcoming space. From sports and games to arts, crafts, and social time, there was something for everyone, and the atmosphere was amazing throughout the evening.

A huge thank you to all of our volunteers who continue to give up their time each week to support local children and young people. Your dedication makes Youth Connect possible.

Toryglen Community Youth Project SCIO is funded through The Scottish Government Volunteering Support Fund and was recently named as a finalist in the Scotland Team of the Year Awards. The nomination reflects the dedication of their volunteers and demonstrates the value of investing in people to create lasting community impact.

🗣 Kay Wright, a Trustee for the organisation said, “The Volunteering Support Fund has been a game changer for our organisation. It has allowed us to support volunteers from underrepresented backgrounds, remove barriers to participation, and create meaningful opportunities for people to contribute, develop and lead within their community."

☀️ 2026 Summer Camp Update ☀️

A huge thank you to everyone who applied for a place at our 2026 Summer Camp ❤️

We received around 190 applications, so it has been an extremely competitive process. Sadly, we are not able to offer a space to every child who applied.

All applications have been reviewed fairly by the Southside Boxing Academy & Community Hub Board, and families will be contacted directly with the outcome of their application.

Children who have not been allocated a space will be placed on our waiting list. If any spaces become available during the programme, we will contact families from the waiting list.

We will also have other activities running throughout the summer, and we will keep parents, carers, families, schools, and partner organisations updated as these opportunities become available 🙌

Thank you again for the amazing level of interest and support shown towards the programme.

It was fantastic to see so many young people enjoying the activities, spending time with friends, and making the most of another brilliant Friday night at the Geoff Shaw Community Centre.

We’ve got some exciting news! 🥐💛

Thanks to the incredible support of Greggs, we now have surplus food available for the community to collect FREE OF CHARGE on selected days throughout the week.

If you’re passing by the Geoff Shaw Community Centre, feel free to pop in with a bag and help yourself to anything available on our Community Food Table. Whether it’s for yourself, your family or someone you know who could benefit, please take what you need. 🛍️

Nothing goes to waste, and together we can help support local families while reducing food waste. 🤝

A special thank you to the Gorbals Greggs Outlet for helping make this possible and supporting us to get this food out into the community. Your support will make a real difference to so many people. 💛

☀️ 2026 Summer Camp Applications Now Open ☀️

Southside Boxing Academy & Community Hub are delighted to announce our 2026 Summer Camp, funded by Glasgow City Council and Comic Relief ❤️

The camp will run across 6 weeks during the summer holidays, with sessions taking place from 10am to 1pm.

Due to expected demand, spaces are not first come, first served. Applications will be reviewed by the Southside Boxing Academy & Community Hub Board, and places will be allocated through a fair ballot process.

⚠️ Important:
A separate form must be completed for each individual child / young person in your household.

Submitting applications for more than one child does not guarantee that all children in the household will receive a space. It also does not guarantee that siblings will be allocated the same week or same days.

The ballot closes on Friday 26 June 2026. Successful applicants will be contacted over the weekend after the ballot closes.

All unsuccessful applicants will be placed on a waiting list.
