Throughout June, the Caldero Lounge team went above and beyond to fundraise for LEAP. From ice bucket challenges to an incredible 38-mile trek from Gainsborough to Louth, the team poured their time, energy and determination into raising as much as possible.

We’re now delighted to confirm that, together, the team raised an incredible £664.

You could say they really went the extra mile — quite literally!

So, what inspired all this incredible fundraising? Every year, Lounges across the country take part in LoungeAid—their annual charity initiative, where each Lounge chooses a local cause to champion. This year, Caldero Lounge chose LEAP, and they threw themselves into supporting us with enthusiasm, creativity and plenty of community spirit.

Thank you for choosing us, Caldero Lounge. Your fundraising total will go directly to supporting those facing homelessness in Gainsborough and across Lincolnshire.

Last month at the LEAP Community Hub, Katie led a creative craft session where attendees painted and decorated wooden slices inspired by the theme of heritage and life in the UK.

The activity sparked meaningful conversations, with attendees sharing their thoughts and experiences around UK history, heritage, culture, religion, and diversity. It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate different perspectives while exploring the many influences that shape our communities.

Katie, our Community Advisor, has had a busy and productive July!

This month, she delivered four life skills workshops, the latest focusing on personal finance. During the session, Katie and attendees explored how credit works and the impact it can have on future loans and mortgages. The group was highly engaged, with plenty of thoughtful questions throughout.

Alongside the workshops, Katie continues to run English classes for tenants and members of the local community who speak English as an additional language. The group is making excellent progress, and several learners will be moving on to ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) courses in September.

At the Coffee Club, Katie has been helping attendees build their confidence in the kitchen by making simple recipes together and developing basic cooking skills. This week, the group baked delicious shortbread biscuits—a big hit with everyone!

The NHS mobile van also visited this month, offering free, confidential Hepatitis C testing to tenants and members of the community. The drop-in session was well attended, and the NHS team will be back again in three months' time.

We’re pleased to offer a Care Corner at the LEAP Community Hub in Gainsborough.

Access to personal hygiene products is essential for health, wellbeing, and dignity, but these everyday items can place a strain on household budgets.

Our Care Corner provides a range of free hygiene supplies for anyone who needs them. You’re welcome to visit during our opening hours and take the items that will help you and your family.

All of the products available have been generously donated by individuals, businesses, and community organisations. If you are in a position to donate, we would be incredibly grateful for your support.

The Care Corner has already made a real difference to our tenants and the wider community, helping to ensure that essential hygiene products remain accessible to everyone.

Our Advice Service has been a tremendous success, with many people coming through our doors for support.

To build on this success and ensure our service is accessible to everyone, we’re moving away from drop-in sessions each week to an open-door policy.

This means you can pop-in at any time during our operating hours, Monday to Friday for advice.

If our Community Advisor is unavailable, our team will arrange an appointment for you.
