Ferryden & Craig Community Council

Ferryden & Craig Community Council What we do Background
Community Councils were introduced in 1975 when local government was reformed and the former, smaller town councils, were abolished.

The objective was to ensure there could be input from the "grassroots" to the then new two-tier structure of Regional and District Councils. The Local Government etc. (Scotland) Act 1994 continued the role of the Community Councils in the new single-tier organisations. Purpose
The purpose of community councils is to ascertain, co-ordinate and express the views of the community it represents to loc

al authorities and other p***c bodies. Specific arrangements are made the by Council for consultation on planning applications. This includes community councils appointing one person as their point of contact for all planning matters. Also, as part of the consultation arrangements, all community councils are sent a weekly list of all planning applications.

🚌 Proposed Removal of Bus Service from Grampian View, Ferryden

🗓️ Consultation ends 06 July 2026

The Forest Policy Group (FPG), a volunteer-led independent think tank dedicated to making Scotland’s forestry more diverse, community-focused, and ecologically resilient.

They want to ensure that local voices are heard in national policy discussions and have launched a short survey to gather views on how forestry is experienced and valued across the country.

Why your perspective matters
You do not need to be a forestry specialist to take part. Whether your residents live near a woodland, volunteer in local green spaces, or simply care about the Scottish environment, their views are essential. We are looking for honest feedback on:

Local connections to forestry.
The benefits and challenges of forestry in your area.
Community involvement in land-use decision-making.
Priorities for public funding and the environment.

The Forest Policy Group (https://www.forestpolicygroup.org/) is gathering views from people and communities across Scotland to better understand how forestry is experienced, perceived and valued. Whether you live near woodland, work in the sector, volunteer locally, visit forests for recreation, or....
