🧡 The Silence After Caregiving 🫂🧡

There is a really specific kind of silence that arrives when long-term caregiving comes to an end.
It is not just the silence of an empty house. It is the silence of a body that has been on high alert for years—and suddenly no longer needs to be.

If you have recently come through this, you might be feeling a strange, heavy mix of deep grief, sudden relief, and then immediate guilt.

Please know that this is completely normal.

• The Grief is real, constant, and fills the empty space left behind.
• The Relief is not a betrayal; it is your body finally exhaling after holding its breath for years.
• The Guilt is simply love still looking for a place to go.

When your caregiving role ends, you are not just grieving a loss. You are also navigating the sudden "unemployment" from a 24/7 job that became your entire identity.

Your body and mind need far more time to recover from that constant adrenaline than anyone tells you.

💆 Complementary Therapies: Gentle treatments to help your physical body finally relax, release stored tension, and rest.

🌿 SWELL Pathways to Healing: Our specialized outdoor activity and equine therapy programme, offering a gentle, grounded way to reconnect with nature, find calm, and help your body process the years of high alert.

Be incredibly gentle with yourself right now. The grief, the relief, and the exhaustion all belong.

Our kettle is always on. If you just want to pop your head in when you're passing by for a quiet cuppa and a friendly face, you are so welcome.
There is absolutely no pressure.

SWELL fully stands in solidarity with The Coalition Against Sunbeds and UCAN Ireland. The statistics are deeply alarming, especially the risk posed to our youth and the projected doubling of melanoma cases.

With the groundwork already laid by the Sunbed Working Group, there is no excuse for delay. The government must act now, follow Australia's successful example, and establish a clear timeline for a total ban to save lives and protect future generations.

Thank you to all the organisations driving this critical movement.

SWELL AT STORMONT THIS MORNING! 🏛️

What an incredibly busy and inspiring morning for SWELL up at Parliament Buildings, Stormont!

We were honoured to stand alongside our fellow members of the Northern Ireland Cancer Charities Coalition (NICCC) to showcase the vital strength of voluntary cancer support across NI.

We had the fantastic opportunity to connect directly with key political leaders to share how our "Social Medicine" is changing lives every single day across County Fermanagh:
