On 6th June 1944, Eighty-two years ago today, thousands of Allied troops set out across the Channel towards the shores of Normandy, facing a future filled with uncertainty.

They came from different nations and different walks of life. Many had left behind families, friends, and homes, knowing there was no guarantee they would ever see them again.

What awaited them was one of the most pivotal moments of the Second World War. Through extraordinary bravery, determination, and sacrifice, they helped lay the foundations for the freedom and peace that generations have since benefited from.

Time continues to pass, and the number of those who witnessed these events firsthand becomes fewer with each year. Yet their service, their courage, and the price they paid must never be forgotten.

Today, we remember all who took part in the D-Day landings, those who gave their lives, and those who carried the impact of that day with them forever.

Last night, cadets at 398 Squadron participated in a simulated humanitarian aid operation following a hurricane that left towns and communities along the East Coast of Africa without essential supplies.

Using advanced eSports simulation software, cadets planned and executed aid strategies, managing logistics, command and control, and coordinating projected air power across the region.

The exercise provided a valuable, hands-on learning experience, allowing cadets to apply real-world scenarios to develop their leadership skills while enhancing their aircraft recognition and understanding of air power.
