We were delighted with the success of our ‘Bring a Friend’ Night at Junior Section BB on Friday. Ten new boys came along with their pals and swelled our ranks for a fun night of games and challenges. We hope they’ll come back next week: we have a uniform waiting for you!

We don’t normally do much with devices at BB but last night it was a virtual Monopoly challenge for the P7-S3 boys, racing through a series of challenges in navigation and critical thinking in Google StreetView! A nice warmup for our participation in BB UK’s Monopoly Challenge in Edinburgh in October. Who’s up for it?

It was a super first night back for the Junior Section boys last night. We have boys from six different schools now so getting to know each other was the order of the day, as well as getting the boys’ ideas for activities and values to work on this year. They’re all away with 3 invites to our ‘bring a friend’ night next Friday!

We at 25th are very sad to read of Willie’s death. Many of our members - current and former - will remember Willie fondly as the ‘bird incident man’ from the Kilbryde Hike but he was so much more than that, having instituted the whole event back in 1969. We send our condolences to his family.

We were saddened to hear of the passing of Willie Brownlie.

Willie was an incredible man who many will have fond memories of. He founded the Kilbryde Hike in 1969 and was heavily involved in the planning and organisation of it for over 50 years. He was well known and respected by all and it was often referred to as ‘his hike’.

He is pictured here in 2019 with now First Minister John Swinney when we presented Willie with the original Kilbryde Hike trophy and replaced it with the ‘Willie Brownlie Trophy’ in his honour.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this sad time.
