Over the past weekend some members of the Dromore Flag Committee took on the challenge of climbing Slieve Donard in a sponsored walk to help raise funds to purchase flags for the town.
The Funds raised will go directly towards the purchase of new flags to help decorate the town with the kingdoms colours as we come into the July celebrations.

The decision to climb Slieve Donard as part of the fundraising effort was to demonstrate our commitment to improving the town’s appearance and community spirit. A first for some lads so no doubt there is some sore legs today, unfortunately the closer we got to the summit the worse the weather conditions got for us and needless to say there wasn’t much of a view.

The committee would like to thank local residents, businesses, and supporters who sponsored the walkers and help contribute to the goal. Every donation, no matter how small, will assist in ensuring Dromore continues to look its best for community events and celebrations.

We are a nonprofit organisation and as such events like this is the only way we raise vital funds for the town, with any money raised being put back towards the community, if anyone would like to donate feel free to contact the page or a member, same goes for anyone who would like to help the lads when the time comes to erecting flags.

🇬🇧BONFIRE SEASON🇬🇧

Our good friends up in Thornhill Estate asked us to share this on their behalf as they’re starting to collect Pallets & Wood for their annual bonfire for the 11th of July Celebrations!🩵

As always they’ve got a full day planned with fun activities and a selection of local Flute Bands for entertainment, more details on that will be announced closer to the time! 🤩

All details on donations are on this poster, if you have materials that need collected (Fences, sheds, beds, sofas.. etc) please comment or message the page and they will come and collect & move it for you! 💪🏽

Blackskull Orange and Blue FB cordially invite you to hear Author and Historian Richard Edgar’s historical talk on the 36th Ulster Division. He will concentrate on the men from our local area and the places they fought.

If you have an interest in WW1, the 36th Ulster Division and how our local men made their road to the Somme, this is one not to be missed!

A retiring collection on the night will be held for the Somme Association, to be presented by the band at the Ulster Tower on 6th August 2026 on our Battlefield Tour.

We are delighted to invite everyone along to our Annual Band Parade & Cultural Evening in the historic village of Royal Hillsborough! 🎉🎺🥁🇬🇧

The evening will begin with a fantastic Cultural Display from around 🕕 6:00PM featuring:

💃 The Sarah Graham School of Highland Dancing
🥁 Bannside Fife & Drumming Club
🎵 The Royal Hillsborough Piper
🥁 Ian Montgomery (Lambeg Drumming)
✨ Plus a few more acts still to be confirmed!

There will also be a superb display of marching bands on the night including Melody, Accordion, Blood & Thunder and Silver bands all in attendance! 🎺🥁🇬🇧

🔹 At 6:30PM Royal Hillsborough Protestant Boys will parade through the village to lay a wreath at the Village Cenotaph before the main procession. 🌺

🔹 The Main Parade will leave the Dromore Road side of the village (near Beechlawn School) at 🕢 7:45PM and this year will be led by 🎶 Edgarstown Accordion Band 🎶

➡️ Into The Square
➡️ Down Main Street past the Village Cenotaph
➡️ Up Ballynahinch Street
➡️ Concluding at Royal Hillsborough Orange Hall 🇬🇧

🚗 PARKING INFORMATION 🚗
Parking is available along:
✔️ Mora Road
✔️ Dromore Road
✔️ Downshire Primary School
✔️ The Doctors Surgery
✔️ Main Public Car Park
✔️ Royal Hillsborough forest park

🙏 We kindly ask everyone to make use of these parking areas to help avoid congestion around the village.

👮‍♂️ We have once again worked closely with our local PSNI Community Events Team who will be on hand assisting with traffic management throughout the evening.

⚠️ Please note:
Traffic will be diverted around the village during the parade and Dromore Road, The Square, Main Street and Ballynahinch Street will only be accessible to residents once the parade commences.
