🌊✨ A little wave of gold… ✨🌊

There’s something so lovely about taking a familiar design and making it that little bit more special to suit someone perfectly. 🤍

This recent commission was for a chunkier version of my 9ct gold Wave Ring, with a little extra weight and presence while keeping those beautiful, flowing curves inspired by the sea.

I absolutely love working with gold. 💛 There’s something about its warmth, richness and the way it catches the light that makes it such a joy to work with. And although silver will always have a special place at my bench, creating pieces in solid gold feels like an extra little treat!

One thing I’m particularly proud of is that 100% of the precious metals I use in my jewellery are recycled. ♻️

That means the silver and gold I work with have been refined and given a new lease of life, rather than relying on newly mined precious metals. I love knowing that the materials I use have their own history, just like the sea glass and shells that inspire so many of my designs.

Beautiful jewellery doesn’t have to begin with newly mined materials. ✨

And that’s one of my favourite things about making jewellery by hand — being able to create something meaningful, thoughtfully made and designed to be treasured for years to come.

🌊💜 A little piece of sea glass with a story all of its own…

This beautiful ring was created using my client’s own purple sea glass, turning a treasured beach find into something she can now wear and enjoy for years to come.

Purple sea glass is always an exciting one to see. It’s considered one of the less commonly found colours, particularly compared with the whites, greens and browns we regularly spot along our shores. Some lavender pieces may even have started life as clear glass containing manganese, gradually developing their purple hue after years of exposure to sunlight. ✨

And that’s what I love so much about sea glass — we may never know its full history, where it came from or how long it spent travelling with the tides, but every piece is completely unique.

🌊 Fancy turning a piece of sea glass into a ring you’ve made yourself? 💍✨

My next Sea Glass Ring Workshop is coming up at beautiful Old Green Studio, just outside Wimborne, on Sunday 18th October.

Spend the day learning the basics of silversmithing as you transform sea glass into your very own sterling silver ring. You’ll learn new skills, get hands-on at the bench and leave wearing something completely unique — made by you! 🤍

And don’t worry if you’ve never picked up a jeweller’s tool before. My workshops are designed with complete beginners in mind, with small class sizes so I can give you plenty of guidance along the way.

Old Green | Seasonal Homeware & Workshops is also the loveliest place to escape to for a few hours — tucked away in the Dorset countryside, surrounded by trees, with plenty of time to slow down, get creative and enjoy doing something just for you. 🌿

🌈 Jewellers Academy Challenge – Day Two 🌈

Today’s challenge is a little look at recent makes - my most recent commission — and this one was such a joy to make!

I first met my lovely client at the Old Green Summer Gathering, where she arrived with a rather impressive collection of sea glass she had gathered over the years. 🌊💙

After chatting through the different possibilities, we decided on a bracelet that would let the sea glass really shine — a beautiful mix of colours, shapes and textures, creating the most gorgeous little rainbow around the wrist.

Every single piece was hand drilled by me… and I’m very happy to report that every single one survived! 😂🙌

Drilling sea glass always comes with a little bit of suspense — especially when you’re working with treasured pieces that can’t simply be replaced. But seeing all those individual pieces come together into one completely unique bracelet made it so worth it.

I love that this piece is made from glass collected by my client herself. Each piece already had its own story, and now they’ve been brought together into something she can wear and enjoy for years to come. 🤍

Another day of the challenge complete… albeit still playing catch-up! 🙈✨

✨ Jewellers Academy Challenge – Day One ✨

I’m joining in with the latest challenge from Jewellers Academy, and day one is all about my workspace — so here’s a little peek behind the scenes! 🔨💍

My bench may look a little chaotic (okay… quite messy 😂), but I promise it’s far more effective than it appears! Everything has its place… even if that place isn’t always where you’d expect it to be!

From my well-loved tools and bits of silver to the sea glass waiting to become something beautiful, this is where most of the magic happens.

And then there’s the afternoon light coming through the window… ☀️ One of those little things that makes me stop and appreciate how lucky I am to spend time here creating.

I’m actually a day behind already after a very busy day yesterday 🙈 — but I’m reminding myself that this challenge is about showing up, not being perfect!

🌊✨ Sea Glass, silver & a little bit of Old Green magic… ✨🌊

What a lovely day at Old Green for my latest Sea Glass Pendant Workshop!

There were some absolutely gorgeous pendants created, with each person choosing their own special piece of sea glass and learning how to carefully wrap it in sterling silver. I love seeing how completely different each finished piece is — just like the sea glass itself, no two are ever quite the same. 💙

Lots of creativity, plenty of laughs and a whole lot of “I can’t believe I made this!” moments… plus we had an extra Old Green mascot keeping everyone company! 🐾🤍

These workshops really are about so much more than making jewellery. It’s a chance to slow down, switch off from everyday life, learn something new and spend a day creating with your hands in the beautiful countryside at Old Green, just outside Wimborne.

✨ My final month at Chalks Gallery! ✨

I can’t quite believe we’re already heading into the final month of my exhibition at Chalks Gallery in Lymington. 🌊🤍

It has been such a lovely experience seeing my sea glass and sea-inspired jewellery alongside so many incredibly talented local artists and makers as part of the Lyme to Lepe exhibition.

If you’ve been meaning to visit but haven’t made it yet, now is the perfect time! 🐚

You’ll find a beautiful collection celebrating our coastline, with artwork and handmade pieces inspired by the Jurassic Coast and the places we’re lucky enough to call home.

And of course, there are some of my favourite sea glass pieces there too — each one made with glass shaped by the sea and hand collected along the Dorset coast. 💙

So if you’re heading to Lymington over the next few weeks, pop into Chalks, have a wander, support some wonderful local creatives and perhaps take home a little piece of the coast with you.

A little carousel of the things that have brought me so much joy over the past summer as a metalsmith 🌊✨

From discovering beautiful pieces of sea glass and shells, new designs coming to life, quiet days at my bench and the excitement of seeing my jewellery out in the world… it’s been a summer full of creativity, learning and little moments that I’ll treasure.

And although I’ll always be a sunshine-and-salty-sea-air kind of girl, I have to admit… I’m now looking forward to the changing of the seasons…spooky season especially 👻 and I’ve got a big birthday creeping nearer 🍂

There’s something lovely about the slower pace that autumn brings. Cosy studio days, darker evenings, new ideas brewing, and the opportunity to turn inwards and get creative again.

So here’s to summer memories, autumn inspiration and whatever the next season brings. 🌿✨
