Today’s the day! ⛰️

Please join us in wishing good luck to our fantastic team of five from Paediatric Services as they take on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge in support of DBTH Charity's Children's Appeal.

Wishing the best of luck to: Zach Jones, Hannah Broadbent, Cheryl Morris, Debbie North and Callum Chrost! 💙

Today they will trek 24 miles across Yorkshire’s three highest peaks, all to help create dedicated parent rooms on the Children’s Ward at Doncaster Royal Infirmary.

When a child is in hospital, being close to family can make all the difference. The appeal aims to create comfortable spaces where parents and carers can rest, recharge and stay close to their child during treatment and recovery.

Thank you to our amazing team for taking on this challenge and helping to make a difference for children and families during their time in our hosptials.

🍀 Good luck everyone – we're all cheering you on from home!

🌟Tomorrow is the day our team of five dedicated team members from our paediatric services will take on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge (20 June) to raise funds for Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals' Charity's Children's Appeal. 👣

Zach Jones, Hannah Broadbent, Cheryl Morris, Debbie North and Callum Chrost will trek 24 miles across Yorkshire’s three highest peaks, raising money to help create dedicated parent rooms on the Children’s Ward at Doncaster Royal Infirmary.

The project aims to provide families with a comfortable space to rest and stay overnight while their child is receiving hospital care.

The new facilities will help parents remain close to their children during difficult times, offering a welcoming environment where they can recharge and access essential amenities.

The team hopes their challenge will raise awareness of the appeal and encourage supporters to donate towards improving the experience of children and families receiving care at Doncaster Royal Infirmary.

Hannah Broadbent, Sister on the Children’s Ward, said: “When a child is in hospital, parents want to be by their side every step of the way.

“We hope this challenge will help us create spaces where families can rest and find comfort while supporting their child through treatment and recovery.”

“Every mile we walk and every peak we climb is for the children and families who face these challenges every day.”

A Doncaster family is taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge to give back to the neonatal team who helped change their lives. 💙

George and Sabrina Thompson, alongside George's brothers and sisters, will tackle the 24-mile trek on 18 July to raise funds for DBTH Charity's Mini Marvels Appeal after their baby daughter, Margaret, received specialist care on the Neonatal Unit at Doncaster Royal Infirmary.

George said: "This unit deserves the very best. Every day, the team works tirelessly to care for the most vulnerable babies and support families like ours. This is our way of saying thank you and helping to make a difference for others."

The family wanted to give back to the team who supported them during a difficult time, and every step they take will help us continue enhancing care and support for babies born too soon or unwell, and the families who need us most.

We're incredibly grateful for their support and wish them the very best of luck as they take on this amazing challenge. 💙

💙 £2,435 raised for our Children's Ward! 💙

Thanks to the incredible efforts of Children's Ward Sister, Ashleigh Elam and the generosity of more than 180 guests, this year's charity quiz night raised an amazing £2,435 to help improve facilities for parents and families on the Children's Ward at Doncaster Royal Infirmary.

The funds will support improvements across the ward, including plans for a new parent room, creating a comfortable and welcoming space for families while their child is receiving care.

This fantastic event is just one example of how our supporters help DBTH Charity go above and beyond for patients and families. Over the years, charitable donations have helped fund new toys for play areas, the Omivista interactive projector and improvements to ward environments, with an exciting new Children's Appeal launching soon to support even more projects across our paediatric services.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended, donated prizes, volunteered and supported the event. Your generosity will make a real difference to children, young people and their families. 💙
