Aughakillymaude Community Association is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Bryan Gallagher.

Bryan was well known throughout the Derrylin area and, indeed, in Aughakillymaude, where he completed his teacher training at the Old Aughakillymaude School. He was firm but fair and always wanted to see every pupil succeed in life.

Bryan held a number of teaching posts throughout the county, but he will perhaps be best remembered as the first Principal of St Aidan's High School, Derrylin, where he set exceptionally high standards.

As well as being a teacher, Bryan was a wonderful musician, writer and broadcaster. Among the books he wrote was Barefoot in Mullyneeny, and together with Brian McManus (Chairman of Aughakillymaude Community Association), he co-authored the wonderful local history book Derrylin: The Place and the People. This publication fulfilled the final wish of the late Pa**ie Gilleece.

The entire Aughakillymaude Community Association wishes to extend its sincere sympathy to the Gallagher family at this very sad time.

Rest in Peace, Bryan.

May Neil's gental soul rest in peace.
