We are introducing the new children to syllable clapping during circle time to help support language development in a fun and engaging way! Clapping out syllables helps children:

✔ Improve their listening skills
✔ Strengthen their understanding of word structure
✔ Develop early literacy skills

You can try this at home too! Encourage your child to clap along to words like ba-na-na or hap-py to make learning even more interactive.

We are excited to see the benifits of introducing this activity to our new children!

Hello,
The children are continuing to settle into playgroup life well. We can see confidence and new friendships growing.
We have been having a lovely couple of weeks exploring colours in play. Red, blue, green and yellow. Next week will be playing with a rainbow of 🌈 colours.

Deganwy Playgroup is now accepting applications for the 2026/2027 academic year!

We offer high-quality care and education for children aged 2 to 4, featuring English-speaking sessions with a wonderful introduction to the Welsh language. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

We have spaces available for the following sessions:
🌟 Playgroup Session: 8:45 am – 10:45 am
🌟 Playgroup Plus (Morning): 9:00 am – 1:00 pm
🌟 Playgroup Plus (Afternoon): 11:00 am – 2:45 pm
🌟 3-Year-Old Session: 8:45 am – 2:45 pm (Perfect for 3-year-olds who aren't currently in nursery school!)

💰 Funding Support Available!
Did you know your childcare could be funded? We accept Flying Start (now rolled out to all Conwy postcodes!) and the Childcare Offer for Wales. We are also registered for the Early Years Education Grant.
Spaces are strictly limited to 30 children per session and we fill up fast! Don't miss out on securing your child's spot.

Hello,
We are looking forward to welcoming you and your children to Playgroup this year. We reopen on Thursday 3rd from 8.45am.
Playgroup sessions run from 8.45 to 10.45am. PG+ AM 8.45/9am till 1pm, we transfer over children to school after lunch.
PG+ PM 11am transfer from school to us till 2.45pm. We kindly ask for prompt collection at 2.45pm, as out of school club use the same building, and they receive children from school at 3pm sharp.
Transitions into the setting can be emotional for the children and parents, and we will work with you to support your childs individual needs.
If your child is attending PG+ in the morning but will be dropped off at schools breakfast club. Please remember to inform us with the days our staff will be collecting them from school. If your PG+ child is attending school in the morning and us in the afternoon, you are welcome to drop off their packed lunch to us in the morning which we will keep refrigerated. Or pop a cool pack in it, if it will remain in your childs school bag.

Hello all, as we start on our 3nd week of summer ☀️ holidays (how did that go so fast?) I'm sure you have all been making to most of the sunshine. But I must admit doing a little dance in the rain yesterday evening! 💃.
I've been busy preparing for September return and our Colours theme by collouring some rice and pasta shapes and making some playdough ready. Just red❤️ and yellow 💛 to do another day. Auntie Lisa x

Good morning everyone,

Today is the last day of our playgroup year, and it's time to say goodbye to nearly all of the children who have attended our playgroup. Some of them have been with us for up to two and a half years, and it has been such a privilege to watch them grow, learn and flourish through play.

We feel truly blessed to have been part of their early years and to have shared in so many special moments. We wish each and every one of our wonderful children the very best for the summer and for the exciting adventures that lie ahead.

A huge thank you to all our parents, grandparents and carers for trusting us with your most precious treasures. It has been an honour to care for and support your children.

I'd also like to say a heartfelt thank you to our amazing volunteer parents who serve on our Committee of Trustees. Your time, dedication and support behind the scenes help keep our playgroup running, and we couldn't do it without you.

Finally, to my truly wonderful team of dedicated staff—thank you from the bottom of my heart. You work tirelessly every single day, not only during our playgroup sessions but also by attending training, staff meetings, sharing ideas, supporting one another and always going the extra mile. You really do work your socks off, and I couldn't do this without each and every one of you or our fantastic Trustees.

Thank you all for making this another wonderful year. Have the most amazing summer, and I can't wait to welcome everyone back for another fantastic year together.
