The Hive

The Hive A unique hive of activity based in Darlington, Co Durham for Adults with Learning Disabilities. Meaning our service can be personalised to suit attendees.

The Hive is an 'activity centre' for adults with Learning disabilities who require extra support with daily living skills and are unable to find or be in employment. We aim to provide a flexible service, that people can opt in and out of on a weekly basis to suit their needs, wants and wishes. We aim for our activities to be educational, to promote independence and develop life skills, with a little bit of fun thrown in!!

What a blooming good wednesday with the lovely Ruth making our own flowers for an art exhibition, trying elderflower tea then some of us got a temporary tattoo. This afternoon we had the wonderful Claire and Jess from VOD to bring us a crazy fun packed music session practicing our makaton and then a little trip down memory lane watching last year's hippodrome performce.

Due to expansion, we are seeking a proactive Support Worker to assist individuals with complex needs. If you are physically active, over 25, and hold a valid driving licence, we would love to hear from you.

🖤The Role as a Support Worker at The Hive 💛
No two days are ever the same. You will empower our attendees to engage with their community, enjoy meaningful activities, and live life to the fullest.

What We Are Looking For 🫵🏼
The Essentials:
Physically Active: You must be physically able to perform the role, which includes pushing wheelchairs, supporting physical personal care needs and partaking in physical activities.
Driver Status: Applications are currently only considered from candidates who are over 25 years of age and hold a valid driving licence to operate our minibus. 🚐
The Desirables: Previous experience working with individuals with complex needs. The ability to "think on your feet" and bring willing, innovative ideas to our daily service. A genuine love for a good sing-along and a boogie! 🎵 🎶 💃 🕺

✍️ The hours of work will average out at 30 hours a week over the month.
Essential availability - 9am - 4pm weekdays and availability two weekends a month supporting our outreach service.
The rate of pay is £12.80 per hour.
