Mary's Meals Mary’s Meals provides nutritious school meals to over 3 million children in 16 countries every school day 💙 Our idea is a simple one that works.

We provide one daily meal in a place of education in order to attract chronically hungry children into a classroom, where they receive an education that can, in the future, be their ladder out of poverty. Mary's Meals began by feeding 200 children in Malawi. Today we feed more than 3 million hungry children every day. Our work is named after Mary, the mother of Jesus, who brought up her child in p

overty. We consist of, we respect and we reach out to people of all faiths and none. The average worldwide cost for us to feed a child for a whole school year is just £19.15/ €22.00/ $25.20 (USD). Wherever possible, Mary's Meals uses locally grown food to support the local economy. We work hard to keep our running costs low and to ensure that at least 93 percent of donations go on our charitable work. This is only possible since most of our work is done by an army of volunteers. With 67 million children of primary school age (about 6 to 11 years) out of school, our work is just beginning.

For children facing hunger, getting to school and concentrating in the classroom can be a huge challenge. But a daily meal can make a real difference.

Our latest research shows that school feeding can help children attend school more regularly, feel more energised and engaged in class, and improve their academic performance. In Malawi, for example, the average pass rate increased from 72% to 80% after school feeding was introduced.
