Cuckfield Dramatic Society

Cuckfield Dramatic Society Cuckfield Dramatic Society (CDS) is an established & thriving amateur theatre group bringing Quality Drama to our village and in nearby Mid-Sussex.

Our Spring 2026 production is the new comedy 'Marilyn's Wig' by Richard Willis & Paul Ruse @ The Queen's Hall from 27th to 30th May 2026

ticketsource.co.uk/cds Most of our shows are held in the Queen’s Hall in Cuckfield High Street, with traditional stage and raked seating although we do branch out to other formats and locations on occasion! We hold two major play performances a yea

r during the May and October half-term holidays

We also hold an evening of entertainment early in the year (The February Frolics) which is both a fund-raiser and an opportunity for members to try their hand at directing or performing in a one-act play or in any of the sketches that follow. (Some clips from the very successful previous years can be seen on the Past Productions page.) And our first musical events added some "Variety" with a now annual Christmas Cabaret of song, dance and more. We form part of the wider social scene in the village, working with other groups such as the Independent State. Our shows attract a good audience and usually high praise! But we always love to see new audience members and new faces to join in the fun on and off stage. (And you don't even have to live in Cuckfield!)

CDS started in its current form over 20 years ago. With an active policy of supporting new members there are always opportunities to become actively involved in our performances and the society in general. If you have an interest in entertainment and would like to become involved on or off stage we will welcome you with open arms. If you have no experience we would be delighted to pass on our knowledge and expertise in performing and/or organising local entertaniment! We do not have a junior section of the society so membership is only open to those of 18 and upwards. (But family memberships, supporters and audience of any age are always welcome!)

Alan Ayckbourn Play reading evening : June 9th 2026 at The Hayloft, Talbot Inn, Cuckfield starting from 19:30.

Thanks to those who supported our Spring production, Marilyn’s Wig. There’s plenty more happening over the coming weeks. First up…

We are holding an Alan Ayckbourn play reading evening where we’ll be discussing, reading and acting out sections from some of Alan Ayckbourn’s plays.

This is an ideal opportunity for you to participate (without having to rehearse lines or appear on stage) in a friendly, welcoming environment. We look forward to seeing you there!

Introducing the cast for Cuckfield Drama’s Marilyn’s Wig.
Next up…
Aaron Holmes is Fidel Castro

Charisma, ci**rs and colossal self-confidence.
Castro is flamboyant, theatrical and proudly defiant. Constantly surviving assassination attempts, he treats danger almost like a personal challenge. However, his vanity and romantic confidence can lead him into trouble.

Our new adult comedy runs from Wed 27th May to 29th May (19:00 for 19:30), and Sat 29th May (14:00 for 14:30) at the Queens Hall!

Please note, the Saturday performance has changed to a MATINEE ONLY at 14:30 in order to avoid clashing with other major evening events in Cuckfield.

See how quickly you can run to get tickets for this riotous farce! A classic case of mistaken identity with hilarious results! Just the thing to warm up a chilly October night!

The Rev Lionel Toop’s wife is an ex-actress. While Lionel is away for the evening, Clive, an actor but now in the army, calls. He invites Penelope to dine in town, which is out of bounds to servicemen so he dresses in Lionel’s blacks. Miss Skillon, a parishioner, sees the couple re-enacting one of their theatrical scenes from a play they’d previously toured with and draws the wrong conclusion. Matters become highly complicated when Lionel
arrives home, followed by the Bishop of Lax (Penelope’s uncle) and an escaped German prisoner of war disguised as a vicar!

From Wednesday 29th October to Saturday November 1st, Queens Hall, Cuckfield
