What does safety mean to you?

Over the past eight months, Q***r Croydon has been part of Design. Build. Act. - a programme delivered by Protection Approaches exploring community safety, hate crime awareness and how grassroots organisations can better support those affected by prejudice and hostility.

We’re now bringing that learning back to our community.

Join us for On the Subject of Safety, a free online evening of conversation, reflection and learning. Together we’ll explore experiences of safety and belonging, learn more about hate crime and reporting pathways, and discuss how we can build stronger, safer and more inclusive communities.

📅 Tuesday 30 June 2026
🕕 6:00pm–8:00pm
💻 Online
🎟️ Free to attend

This isn’t a lecture. It’s an opportunity to listen, learn, share experiences and help shape what community safety looks like moving forward.

Advance registration is required.

Sign up now via the link in our bio or q***rcroydon.com.

Presented by Q***r Croydon and inspired by the learning, conversations and partnerships developed through Design. Build. Act. - a Protection Approaches programme.

Q***r Croydon’s Trans Relief Fund has distributed more than 2,000 free RADAR keys to trans, non-binary, intersex and gender non-conforming people across the UK.

What started as a simple idea has grown into a practical support scheme helping people access safer, more dignified toilet facilities when they need them most.

Every RADAR key we send out, every package we post, and every piece of support we provide is made possible through community donations.

At a time when many members of our community are feeling anxious, isolated or uncertain about the future, practical acts of solidarity matter. The Trans Relief Fund exists to provide tangible support, remove barriers, and remind people that they are not alone.

If you are able to contribute, no matter how small the amount, your donation helps us continue providing free RADAR keys and supporting community-led initiatives for trans, non-binary, intersex and gender non-conforming people.

Donate today via the link in our bio or at:
q***rcroydon.com/support-us

Thank you to everyone who has donated, shared, volunteered and helped make this project possible.

In light of the recent EHRC guidance, we know many in our community may be feeling overwhelmed, anxious, angry, or uncertain right now.

Please know this:

You are not alone.

Q***r Croydon remains committed to supporting our trans, non-binary, intersex and gender non-conforming community members through this period. We know that navigating public spaces can already feel difficult for many, and moments like this can intensify those feelings.

As part of this, we continue to offer our free Radar Key scheme for trans, non-binary, intersex and gender non-conforming individuals who may benefit from access to accessible toilets and safer facilities whilst out in public.

Alongside this, we’ve shared a number of trans-specific and LGBT+ support services that people can reach out to if they need someone to talk to or additional support during this time.

We will get through this together. 🏳️‍⚧️

Creating access means more than just opening the doors.

Alongside spreading the Mayor of London’s campaign to Croydon, we’ve also been working with BETTER and Croydon Council to help shape new anti-hate messaging across leisure centres

We’ve delivered LGBT+ awareness training for staff and are committed to continuing this work — helping create leisure spaces where q***r people, trans people, disabled people and other marginalised communities feel safe, respected and able to take part without fear.

For many LGBT+ people, gyms and swimming pools have not always felt welcoming. We are trying to change that culture, together.

You are welcome here.
You are wanted here.
You deserve to feel safe and treated with dignity.

Our first LGBT+ Swimming session takes place on Saturday 30th May at Waddon Leisure Centre

Please register in advance via q***rcroydon.com/events 🩷
