This is a dedicated service supporting women whose children are on a Child Protection Plan or are on the Born Into Care pathway. Our incredible team is working tirelessly to support women, expand our services and campaign for change.

And all we are asking for? Empathy.

When we show empathy and respect for the stories that are shared, it leads to better outcomes for all.

Stories are shared from a place of vulnerability, and when we respect that trust, it builds confidence, resilience and empowers a mental and cultural shift for the greater good.

By the end of this training, participants will be able to:
💜Explain the core principles of Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), including the evolutionary model of emotion regulation and the three systems: threat, drive, and soothing.

💜Understand the impact of recurrent care proceedings on parents, including shame, trauma responses, fear, grief, and mistrust of services.

💜Recognise how shame and self-criticism maintain defensive or survival-based behaviours in parents involved in child protection systems.

💜Apply compassion-focused formulations to better understand parents’ behaviours within the context of trauma, attachment history, and systemic stress.

💜Use practical compassion-focused techniques, such as: Soothing rhythm breathing, Developing the compassionate self, Chair work to address shame and self-criticism, Compassionate imagery, Demonstrate language that reduces threat and shame in professional-parent interactions., Reflect on the emotional impact of child protection work and identify how CFT principles can support professional resilience., Apply compassionate mind principles to team culture, promoting psychological safety and reducing burnout and blame dynamics.

For the past 10 years Believe in Her has been supporting mums whose children are on a child protection plan, walking alongside them as they navigate social care and family court during one of the most challenging periods of their lives.

We believe every mum deserves to be heard, supported, and believed in. Through advocacy, emotional support, and practical guidance, we help mums feel less alone and more empowered to move forward.

This year marks an important chapter for Believe in Her with lots happening and even more to come. Thank you for being part of this journey 💛
