Crying is completely normal, but we know it can feel overwhelming at times. 💚

For ICON Week 2026 (21–25 September), Central Cheshire MNVP is sharing the ICON message to help parents and carers cope with baby crying:

I – Infant crying is normal and it will stop.
C – Comfort methods can sometimes soothe the baby and the crying will pass.
O – It’s OK to walk away if you have checked the baby is safe and the crying is getting to you.
N – Never, ever shake a baby.

If you ever feel stressed or overwhelmed, remember you are not alone and help is always available.

Happy National Inclusion Week from Central Cheshire MNVP! 👋✨

Why do we exist? To make sure that every family’s voice directly shapes maternity and neonatal care across Leighton Hospital and our community services. True inclusion means listening to everyone—especially parents and carers from diverse, underrepresented, or marginalised backgrounds.

Your experiences help us:
🔹 Identify and fix gaps in care
🔹 Build culturally safe, accessible services
🔹 Support NHS staff to deliver personalized, compassionate care

Got a story or experience to share? Drop us a DM—we’d love to hear from you. 💬

Sepsis is a life-threatening medical emergency, but knowing the warning signs can save lives. During pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period, your body undergoes massive changes - and while infections are common and treatable, they can sometimes trigger sepsis in both birthing parents and newborns.

Always trust your instincts. If you notice any of these symptoms in yourself, your baby, or your child, seek urgent medical attention immediately:

Symptoms in Babies & Children:
🫁 Rapid breathing or shortness of breath
🥶Cold, mottled, or pale skin
🌡️ Very high or very low temperature
💙Bluish skin or lips
🤱Poor feeding
🤮 Vomiting or diarrhoea
😴 Lethargy or difficulty waking
🚽Little to no urine output
🧴 Non-fading rash

Symptoms in Adults:
🌡️ Very high or low temperature
🥶 Uncontrolled shivering
🤔Confusion or altered mental state
🚽Not passing as much urine as normal
💪🦵 Cold or blotchy arms or legs
