Cheshire East Young Carers’ Hub helps to ensure that young carers between the ages of 5 and 18 years old are identified and provided with support in their caring role. Young Carers tell us that they worry about asking for support in case it upsets the person they care for or they worry about adults thinking that they cannot cope, resulting in the person they care for being taken away from them. It
can also be a bit scary for young carers to practically reach out for support and we want enable you to contact us in ways you are familiar and comfortable with. It can be hard to pick up the phone, so young carers can reach out to us by texting # # # or emailing # # #
What happens next? One of our Young Carer Support Workers, will respond to you using the method that suits you best i.e. text, phone or email and have a chat with you about you and your caring role. You can then together, decide on a plan that will work for you, based on your needs and wishes and also help you talk to other people who can help including teachers, employers and other services. Support will be provided from a dedicated Young Carers Support Worker and can include:
Listen to you and help you to think about what would make a difference through a Young Carers Assessment
Give you information and training about the illness or disability of the person you care for
Help to access advice and support for the person you care for
Help for you to access support in school or college
Help for you to be listened to and have your voice heard
Help you to get in touch with other services
Introduce you to other young Carers
Talk to you about ways in which you can take a break and have some fun by supporting you to access group work and activities
Regular newsletters full of information and activities
