We just wanted to remind 'old' parents and let any new parents know a little about the Scout swimming club.
Whilst attending the club does allow our Cubs and Scouts to work towards earning their staged swimming badges, historically it has always been about making sure our Cubs and Scouts are SAFE when taking part in any activities around water especially when out on open water.
We are sure you will all agree that swimming in open water is a completely different ball game to swimming in a pool.
Whilst we are keen for your children to achieve their badges, we feel it is extremely important that we work on building strength, stamina, water confidence and teaching lifesaving skills.
Therefore, although sometimes your child may have achieved the criteria for their badge. We sometimes keep them in the same group in order to build up the skills which we feel are so important if they are to get the best out of the water activities offered by our district
We hope you can all understand why the club runs this way? YOUR CHILDS SAFETY IN WATER IS OUR PARAMOUNT CONCERN.
