All Saints Community Centre, Buglawton

All Saints Community Centre, Buglawton News and information regarding the new restoration and development of the All Saints Community Centre in Buglawton Cheshire.

Project Summary:

St John’s Church Hall and the Headmasters house were built in 1843 as a National Primary School for Buglawton children and has served the local church community up to 1927 when primary school education was taken on by the government and moved to new premises. These facilities have not been updated to modern standards and are in desperate need of renovation. The local district of

Buglawton has very limited facilities for community activities which a renovated church hall would fill the gap. After receiving a legacy the church hall refurbishment committee was formed and tasked to look at transforming the derelict schoolmasters house and an under used Church Hall, into a vibrant community centre with the main objective of offering facilities to local people in order to improve their health & well being. Community needs will be at the heart of the process with all stages of the project remaining in keeping with our Christian principles. Before any work commenced, a community questionnaire was distributed in January 2013 to most households in the Buglawton district which is served by two local primary schools, in order to establish whether there was a need for the centre and a legitimacy for taking this forward. After very positive results from this survey, an Architect was engaged to draw up proposals to meet the needs identified. In order to promote which options were best for the community, gain public support and to obtain public feedback, a public consultation event was held on the site on Saturday 25th May 2013. The aim of the public consultation was to obtain constructive feedback on the proposals from local residents and community groups and alleviate any concerns given the Grade II Listed status of the site and also seek volunteers for the scheme and the building itself. The results were then used to formulate the detailed plans and together with the relevant surveys plus the Conservation Officers input submitted for planning permission. All facilities will be available for use by local community groups and the church.

We are continuing our Messy Church theme of exploring different journeys that Jesus made and what they might mean to us.

One of my favourite parts of nature are lakes, of all sizes. I love rowing boats on them, splashing in the shallows, or exploring coves and the shores around them. They are beautiful but can also be dangerous. This month we are exploring some of the journey's that Jesus took across Lake Galilee and the adventures he and the disciples experienced. These were often a combination of scary and incredible. I wonder what me might learn from them.

From 4.00-5.00pm there will be a variety of crafts for families to make together that include making a 'running' paper cup Jesus, a messy storm painting, some colourful marble fish and delicious apple boats, and more.

At 5.00pm there will be a short celebration where we will be singing, dancing, and discovering how the adventures across the lake can help us today.

After the celebration join us for a free meal together as family. We will serving a fish fingers, wedges and beans as a main with jelly and ice cream for pudding . Dietary requirements are provided for, please note these at booking.

This event is primarily for pre-school and primary aged children and their parents or carers. All ages are welcome.
Whilst there is no charge for the event, if you would like to, you can make a suggested donation of £5 per family on the day towards the running costs of food and materials for the event. This can be cash or contactless.

I don't know about you, but I love chocolate. And there is something about Easter egg chocolate that is just that little bit better. Maybe it's thinner or maybe its the shape but it is extra specially delicious. Maybe it's because of what the egg celebrates. This month we discover that Easter isn't all about chocolate eggs, but instead is about Jesus' journey to the cross, why he did it and what it means for us.

From 4.00-5.00pm there will be a variety of crafts for families to make together that include making pretzels, a colourful donkey puppet, a collaborative El Salvadoran Cross and more.
At 5.00pm there will be a short celebration where we will be singing, dancing, and discovering what Jesus' journey to the cross was really all about and why it was sad and good at the same time.

After the celebration join us for a free meal together as family. We will serving a fish fingers, wedges and beans as a main with jelly and ice cream for pudding . Dietary requirements are provided for, please note these at booking.
