Leave Hate At The Gate. We’re all about love here. You’re Welcome! 🏕️🌳
NB: This is our Blessing Tree by the parking area. This is the only tree we allow flags and blessings to be hung. The wild woodland is, as you would expect, left alone. There are times and places appropriate for humans 🙏🏻🌳

Hugelkultur is the ancient art of "Hill Culture."
By burying rotting wood at the bottom of your garden beds, you create a giant underground sponge.

The decaying logs soak up rainwater and during dry spells, they release moisture back to your thirsty plants.

It creates a self-watering garden that gets better every year as the wood breaks down into rich earth.

While you’re tidying your garden think about what you can repurpose and reuse.

Proud to support our veterans. 🙏🏻 The Great Tommy (soldier) Sleep Out is an annual March fundraising campaign by Royal British Veterans Enterprise (RBVE) to support the over 6,000 UK veterans experiencing homelessness. Participants sleep outside for one or more nights—in tents or under the stars—to raise money for emergency accommodation, support services, and employment opportunities for veterans. It is named after "Tommy Atkins," the traditional, generic nickname for a British Army common soldier used since 1743. Participants sleep outdoors to highlight the hardships faced by veterans without homes. Link will be posted to this organised by the amazing Andy J Jones, in comment beneath to our fundraiser 🙂

Wow a busy day running around . First to a yard sale to bag some stuff then to Alsager to pick up some sleepers very kindly donated by Pete Mason, founder of Alsager Community Plant Swap, then back to the yard sale with the Jones Clan (who completely saved the day with their huge van) n our 2 vans to pick up the stuff bought in the morning then over to the woods to unload it all!

Big thanks to the Jones clan for use of their van! Also thanks to Pete Mason founder of Alsager Plant Swaps for the donation of sleepers. Then off to a yard sale. A busy day picking up and dropping off things for the woods!

Bears and Trees! Two of our most favourite things 🥰🌳🐻

The Refuge Tree-
When a mother black bear leads her cubs away from a den, her usual destination is a big tree where the cubs can take refuge from danger. That tree is typically a white pine over 21 inches in diameter. A mother may pass by thousands of other trees to reach a big white pine where she will rake a bed at the base for herself and the cubs. She seems to know where each big white pine is in her territory. Big white pines have strong, rough bark cubs can safely climb. Their needles give shade, and the branches are strong enough to hold whole families if need be.

Mothers leave their cubs at these "baby-sitter" trees and forage nearby, occasionally up to two miles away. The cubs sleep hidden in the crowns or play around the base, ready to climb at any hint of danger. If disturbed, they may remain quiet up the tree or yell in distress, bringing mothers running, grunting with concern. https://bear.org/the-refuge-tree/
