Big congratulations to Charlie on becoming House Manager at Stanhope House 💙🧡

Charlie brings a wonderful background in care and culinary training, along with her enthusiasm and commitment to the role which have brightly shone through. We’re so excited to see her dedication to supporting our residents flourish in this new chapter. 🌟

🖼️ Blooms, brushes and beautiful memories 🎨

At Stanhope House, our residents stay active and engaged with puzzles, gardening, yoga and baking, and this week Charlie brought a touch of her flower business, Parish Petals, into the mix!

She brought in a gorgeous bunch of blooms from her own garden paired with some acrylic paints.

Here’s what Charlie had to say:

“A big bunch of my garden scented flowers, some acrylic paint and imagination 💭 and my residents were well on their way today doing mindful painting. An easy, care-free activity which promotes memory stimulation through familiar scents and colours from the past - a real antidote to relaxation and a mood enhancer 🥰 A very good effort by all, and I adore taking blooms to work 💐”

What a lovely way to bring the garden indoors! 🌸

Abbeyfield Northfield Court celebrating their partnership with The Quantock Restaurant at Taunton College 💙🧡

It’s wonderful to see the positive impact of communities coming together in ways that benefit everyone involved. Opportunities like these not only help students develop valuable skills and confidence, but also bring joy, conversation, and connection to our residents. It’s a great reminder of the difference that strong community relationships can make.

We know just how important community engagement is in enriching the lives of our residents and building lasting relationships with local organisations. We look forward to next year!

At Abbeyfield East Devon we are so proud to be part of the Abbeyfield movement, founded in 1956 when Richard Carr-Gomm opened his door to two older neighbours in Bermondsey, with a beautifully simple belief: that no one should face loneliness in later life.

That idea has since grown into a movement spanning the UK, Australia, Canada, South Africa and Belgium.

Here in East Devon, our own society has been living that mission since we formed in 1978 — starting with Marjorie Baker House in Colyton, and growing over the years to include Stanhope House in Honiton and Northfield Court in Taunton, Somerset. Three communities, one shared purpose. 💙🧡

And we’d love you to join us in celebrating! 🧁☕

🍓 Homemade Pavlova Perfection!
Look at this stunning pavlova lovingly made here at Stanhope House 😍 piled high with fresh berries and cream. Proof that delicious things happen in our kitchen!

🧠 Keeping Minds Sharp with Word Wheels!
Our residents have been absolutely loving our Summer Word Wheel brain teasers, rising to the challenge brilliantly! From “SUNBATHER” to some seriously impressive answers, the competition is friendly but fierce! 💪📝

🌱 Our Little Greenhouse is Thriving!
Sunflowers, tomatoes, lettuce and more, our budding gardeners planted seeds last month and they have been nurturing some beautiful seedlings, they are growing well! 🌻🍅

At Stanhope House, our team work hard to fill our house with creativity, fun, and delicious home cooked meals.

☕️ Join us for our monthly coffee morning every second Wednesday of the month. Next Coffee morning, Wednesday 10th June, 10:30am-12 noon.
