Munchkins Miniature Shetland Rescue Based in Devon, Munchkins was set up to rescue miniature Shetland ponies. Please note, we are open to visitors by appointment only. We are members of NEWC.

Munchkins offers a home for life for miniature Shetland ponies in need. National Equine Welfare Council. We work alongside and with other larger organisations such as World Horse Welfare and RSPCA. We have capacity for approximately
50 ponies. Those ponies that are suitable for rehoming we place in "forever homes". Homes will be checked and we will require references from your vet and farrier. We rehome within approximately 50-60 mile radius of Colyton, East Devon. Applications from outside this area will be at our discretion. All ponies will belong to Munchkins and may be returned at any time to our Rescue centre. Many have come from troubled backgrounds and need the continuity of a permanent home. We are run by a group of wonderful volunteers who work tirelessly to help! Please sponsor one of our ponies by visiting our website www.mini-munchkins.org

I'm so tired, there's not enough hours in the day. I've done Munchkins. I've done the shop, I've loaded the car to bursting point from the shop, and driven back to Munchkins. I've sat in the office, I've driven home and taken lots out of my car and filled my house and done the auction, but I forgot to post up the diary!
Better late than never...

Hay folks Tim here with your Wednesday mid week update of the Munchkins news. We have another update from one of our alumni who has changed colour, well it is that time of year! I briefly mentioned the Halloween quiz in the last diary, I have more details. The sun came out to play after some mist this morning so we managed some snoozy time although I understand it is going to be getting cooler over the next few days but still everything crossed that the rain stays away for the fair.
There is a somewhat different looking pony sending us a report from her forever home today, she felt she had to show us her wonderful youthful looks! The full report and pictures are on the page. Sequin who is out with her friend Todd decided to darken her coat with mud! She does look a lot darker grey but it will wash out with the next heavy shower. Do check out the pictures as she has really managed great coverage!! Well done lass.☺️ Did you readers know that most grey horses become lighter with age? The classic example are the Lippizaner horses of the Spanish Riding School in Vienna. They are born Black or very dark brown and as they age they turn white.Our own native Welsh ponies do this as well, especially the section A’s!
Now all you quizzers out there who wants to get a team together and go and raise some money? Our charity partners Numatic are holding a Halloween Quiz on Friday 23rd October, in Chard at the Guildhall. Entry is £3 and under 12’s are free. Teams of no more than 6 people are allowed. There is a raffle and a prize for the winning team and also for the team with the best name! Who wants a spooky night out , more details in Mummy Munchkins post on the page.
We are all saving our energy for tomorrow as it is vet, farrier and therapy day! Everyone is ready for a busy day!

So please please check for yourselves. This really helps Ann who finishes the auction and wraps things.

P&p is £4.50 unless stated otherwise.

If jewellery is in a box it is £4.50 because it just won't fit through the post office letter box. If you'd like a gift bag instead of a box then jewellery is £2.50 to post.

Hay folks Tim here with your Tuesday news update. The rain has made our mud very happy and the girls are all enjoying applying their mud packs to ensure they look their best for the meet and greet at the Autumn Fayre this coming weekend, both Saturday and Sunday 17th and 18th October! 🤩
There is a post on our page introducing some of Bilbo’s ‘dancing team’ in the All Steps Formation Riding team mini section. They are busy practicing the new Christmas 'formation dance' so that they are hoof perfect and ready to perform to everyone at the Christmas events they will be attending. The mini team has had a few new members recently and they are being introduced in the post. You may remember the team that danced at the Munchkins Summer Fayre this year? Do check out the post on our page.
There are some lovely pictures of some of our herd members taken over the last few days. There is a great one of Bear doing his tongue out Tuesday ! Just proving he has a cute pink tongue! 👅 There is also a gorgeous video of Latte climbing the hill on the track to meet Ann. Looks like Latte wants to make sure everything is being done to the normal high standards!
Thank you to everyone for prompt payment for your auction items, it makes it so much easier for our volunteers! It is very much appreciated. We have to chase people every week. So please, if you bid, check in to see if you have won!
Our vintage book sale has been put up again, there are a lot of older but great books on offer, some are very early editions! Do take a look, it is on our Munchkins page.
Now a big thank you to everyone who has shared, read and commented on our posts over the last few days, please keep up the great work. If we can get the likes and views up a bit higher we hope we can help with the fundraising, which we all know is difficult at the moment, and after all being ponies we do love our feed!

"Here’s Sequin after a mad 5 minutes earlier - I think she might need a shower!!

She’s doing very well as normal, she’s so good and so easy to do. Her feet were trimmed in Friday and her dental and vaccinations are booked in for the end of the month"
